Easter Sunday Manicure

Happy Easter Everyone!

Sorry for the late post but I've been working all weekend!
Today might be rainy but it has been getting warmer, the sun has been out and I actually saw a robin yesterday. Yep, Spring is here! Now it just needs to hurry along so that it can be Summer ;)

Since I was feeling all happy and Spring-like, I wanted to do a manicure that was Spring-like also! The boyfriend suggested I use Joe Fresh Wave, a pretty light blue with a shimmer that is invisible on the nail (boo). I then stamped it with a BM plate using Essie's No Place like Chrome (my go to silver, its the best!)
Even though my nails are short and gross right now, I got lots of compliments from the girls at work. I can't believe I didn't know that I owned the chevron stamp! I've been dying looking at other's nails! Now, I suck and my pattern isn't straight, or didn't fully transfer, but I still like it! Sorry about the cuticle on my middle finger. Believe or not, I actually had just put on cuticle butter...but my hands are so dry :(

indoors--my thumb didn't fully transfer :(
I love, love, love this manicure! And so far almost no chips or tip wear and it's been 3 days! Hope you enjoyed this short post, are you feeling springy pastels this time of year? <3

March Beauty Favourites

Happy Saturday friends! I hope you're all having great weekends, spending time with family if you celebrate Easter, and enjoying the early stages of spring!

Since I have been exploring the world of YouTube beauty recently (and even posting my own video!) I have slowly become obsessed with some specific types of videos: Get Ready With Me, Empties, and Monthly Beauty favourites! I'm slowly saving my own cache of empty beauty products, mostly because I keep telling myself that I'll film another video soon, but also I find it interesting to see what you use up over time! Since I'm not ready to film another video yet, I figured I'd do a blog post about my monthly March beauty favourites (I promise, it has nail polish in it!). This will be a little content heavy, so the rest is after the jump!

I Love Purple

Happy Thursday Loves! I can't believe it's almost Easter! Those of you who gave up something for Lent, rejoice, the end is almost near! I didn't give anything up this year, sadly, although I should have!

Continuing my need for spring, and the feeling of wanting to "spring clean", I decided to go through my Helmer drawers and give some polishes I don't wear too often a little love! Cult Nails Charming is one of those colours, even though it's beautiful, and one of my favourite purple's that I own. I paired it with China Glaze Light as Air, which I topped with China Glaze White Cap. I loved how these looked together <3

I am helping run an Easter Sleepover tonight and I am anticipating a very sleepless night :( but when I wake up on Friday my boyfriend will be home so that is the silver lining to a child-filled Thursday night!

Pink Ombre Nails

Happy Tuesday! I am happy that this week AND next are 4 day weeks (yay for Easter) but I also can't believe March will be over in 6 days!! This year is literally speeding by and I'm amazed.

It's starting to feel a bit more like spring around where I live, 90% of the snow is gone, temperatures are above freezing and it's sunny! Hallelujah! So to celebrate, I've been in a pink mood, which translates to a pink ombre! I almost managed a full OPI ombre, but my original light pink choice of OPI Bubble Bath pulled to peach so I had to switch it out.

This is an ombre featuring OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (on thumb, not pictured), Orly Kiss the Bride, OPI Mod About You, OPI Strawberry Margarita and OPI You're A Pisa Work!

I'm really looking forward to temperatures warming up, mostly because I want to stop wearing boots & coats and shed some layers to flats & tshirts!

Vintage Inspired Nails

Happy Sunday!
How was everyone's weekend?
This week I saw some of my high school girlfriends which was pretty great! I also started signing up and getting my prep books for my National Knowledge Exam (for HR) in June. ACK! Studying :S

This week I have two of the Nail Art Challenge days for you -- Vintage Nails and Swatch.

For my Vintage Nails I asked Karen from Nail Call to help me with some inspiration. She showed me these nails from her Pinterest board and I figured out a way to recreate them!

I used Cult Nails in Manipulative (sadly retired! BOO I LOVE THIS ONE!) Essie in A Crewed Interest and Misa's Pay Days are Happy Days. As well I used my bundle monster rose image to stamp the flowers on my nails. This didn't turn out exactly as I would've liked but I still think it was okay!

Sorry about the poor cuticles--as always :(

Oh and apparently I missed polish during clean up :S yikes. I'm a mess

I loved the look of the gold on misa
As for my swatch post, I recently purchased the Cult Nails Anniversary pack and only just played around with Blaze. I LOVE this glitter. It's beautiful and understated and classy. Love love love love! My only issue was that it took forever to dry and it didn't level as well but...that just means I can't be sloppy with applications and I should just try harder.

I couldn't accurately capture the red glitter but MAN this is AMAZING

So beautiful!

I will be wearing this A LOT
I hope you all enjoyed both my nail art and swatching :) Have a great week <3

Spring Flowers

Happy Friday! It's finally Friday. I can't believe it, this week has gone by so fast and yet so quickly it's been crazy. I also can't believe next week is Easter because I keep thinking Easter is supposed to be April, it's throwing me off.

So again, these are some throwback nails, since they're my longer nails (I'll get back there soon I hope). This feels very spring appropriate even though I did this manicure at the beginning of February! This is a base of OPI Mod About You topped with Enchanted Polish Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and a bundle monster stamp!

Sadly I only managed one day of sunlight to capture the holographic awesomeness that is Lucy in the Sky, but it was a really pretty combination.

Thanks for reading & I hope you're having a great first few days of spring <3

Silver Chevrons

Happy Wednesday! Who watched Pretty Little Liars last night? Anyone else? Or just me? I have gotten into this show since the summer season started. It was a good way to end my night since yesterday we got another snowfall. I don't understand, it's supposed to be spring..I didn't think I'd have to be shoveling in March!

So, these nails are a little blast from the past, as probably 1 other manicure, since they are my formerly long nails that I didn't get to post, since St. Patrick's Day spam got in the way. I am really on a chevron kick, and I'm dying for someone to come out with a wider or thicker chevron stamp. This is NYC Concrete with Sally Hansen Silver Sweep stamped over top!

I can't believe it's Wednesday already, this week is definitely flying by at an alarming speed!

My St. Patrick's Day Manicure

Happy Monday Everyone! How many people are suffering a green-filled hangover? Not me! I had a pretty boring St. Patrick's Day, since I got up at 4:30am to drive my parents to the airport yesterday :| I love them but 4:30 am is a time I thought I'd never see, and never want to again. I just had a green beer by myself at home, so sad.

Anyways, I figured I would wait until today to post what I wore on my nails, since I wasn't sure when I'd get around to painting them, and I hate stealing Katy's 1 day that she posts on the blog! After my green spam posts, I was pretty unsure what I wanted to wear, but I settled on A-England Dragon, because this beauty sits in my Helmer, hiding away, far too often. I topped it with a line of dots in China Glaze Passion. Nothing too fancy, just green & gold!

I hope you all had fantastic weekends and a great start to the week ahead!

PS. I also tried something new this weekend! Thanks to Ania (or @annabellemakeup on Twitter) I filmed my very first haul video!! It's solely on makeup, since you all know I have been getting more into makeup and the youtube beauty world! If you want to see something different from me, hop on over to my youtube channel, Life and Polish or click here to go straight to the video! If you like these kinds of videos, a thumbs up or a comment on the channel or here would be appreciated :)

St. Patrick's Day Manicure

Happy Sunday Readers!
Happy St. Patrick's day to all of you lovely Irish folk (and for all the students out there ready to celebrate with a beer)

I will be celebrating outside in a tent party as my day off this week! Very excited to relax after a long week.

This week I didn't end up doing a "Luck" nail art theme. I couldn't think of one that wasn't lame. Well my St. Patrick's is also lame but...whatever.

I used Cult Nails Deal With It (one of my boyfriend's favorites  and stamped a clover image using Cult Nails Nevermore. Nothing complicated, just a green manicure with a clover stamp! I topped it off with Wicked Fast. There's still a bit of VNL but I used 3 thin coats, and didn't want to use too many more. This polish is one of my favorites.

So bright!

Sorry my hands are a bit dry and sad

Just a simple manicure
So there you have it! I'm excited for a few of next week's challenges, Vintage -- I have a few patterns I haven't used yet that I've been itching to try, and swatch -- which means I get to buy new polishes to swatch right? Because I have my eye on a few....<3

Green Spam Part 3

Hi loves! Happy Saturday! I have part 3 of my Green spam for you all today. I'm not sure what I'll wear for St. Patrick's day, nail wise, clothing wise, or makeup wise..but I do know I have some green food colouring & I'll have some green beer!

Today's final installment is my green glitters. I LOVE this babies, so beautiful, so browse away!

First up, from last year's Hunger Games collection, China Glaze Smoke and Ashes. This is a super blackened green base, with blue-green almost glassfleck like glitter. Mine is this colour, although I know people found certain batches were different. I still consider mine green, although it always seems much prettier in the bottle than in the nail, *sigh*.

China Glaze Glittering Garland, this is an evergreen toned glassfleck glitter, man, China Glaze really does these well. I originally bought this because I thought it would substitute for Emerald Sparkle, but now that I own that polish, they are totally different..and I need both!

BB Couture Saturday Night Fever, a deep jelly polish with bright green glitter. <3 That's all.

And finally, my holy grail green glitter polish, China Glaze Emerald Sparkle. I can't say how much I love this polish and I need to wear it more often. My body chemistry does not like this polish with Seche Vite, it gets super chiptastic, but I don't care.

I hope this has inspired you to wear some green from you stash tomorrow! I'll be sure to let you know on Monday what my St. Patrick's Day manicure (and perhaps makeup) turned out to be!

Green Spam Part 2

Happy Friday! I'll keep this short and sweet, I'm going to try to enjoy my last few days of March Break!

Today I have 4 polishes, 3 metallics, 1 holo!

First up, A England Dragon. I love this beautiful green holo. If you don't have this by now, I don't know what you're doing. But then again, I STILL don't own Nubar Reclaim, so I shouldn't judge.

Next up, China Glaze Jolly Holly. Deep christmas metallic green. Yum.

China Glaze Wagon Trail. Dark dirty olive green with gold shimmer. So complex, but so gorgeous!

And lastly, China Glaze Agro, from last year's Hunger Games collection. This was my St. Patrick's Day manicure last year. Love this, I always forget I own it. I definitely need to wear it more!

Stay tuned for my final installment tomorrow!

Green Spam Part 1

Happy Thursday my loves! I hope you're all having a great day as it inches closer towards the weekend and St. Paddy's day! Yesterday I did a little retail therapy with my mom, and even though I didn't buy too much, she bought tons! I feel like a great enabler!

Since St. Patrick's day is on Sunday, I felt I should comb through my stash and find anything and everything green! I split it up into 3 parts, since I have quite a bit, or well, quite a bit for the average person! Today I have 4 lovely green cremes for you! As a side note, you might notice my nails are much shorter :( Sadly my index nail broke the corner off, and I couldn't bear to take it all the way down, but I did try to file my nails down to match. I know some people hate when 1 nail is shorter than the others, but sorry, I couldn't do it!

Sally Hansen Green with Envy, a gorgeous bright, almost lime-y, grass green! I love this polish but I rarely wear it. It's sort of "shrek"-like but so cute.

China Glaze Starboard. This is what I consider a 'real' grass green. This is from the nautical collection a few days ago, and I think it definitely jump started my "green" habit.

Essie Going Incognito. Oh man, dark green perfection! I love this beauty <3 I saw this first on Deniz's blog and I NEEDED this polish to try imitate this look. I still don't have OPI Glow Up Already but I am ok with that. I think I need to re-do this look when my nails grow out a bit.

And finally, Revlon Minted. I LOVE mint green colours, but I only really own 1, because, it gives me super lobster hands. I also only ever seem to pull it out when I have short nails..and I don't love it on short nails for some reason :(

I hope you enjoyed Day 1 of Green spam, look for parts 2 & 3 coming up Friday & Saturday!

Sally Hansen Blue It

Good Morning & Happy Monday loves! I hope you all survived Daylight Saving's Time. I was out at a bar, came home at 2 and then watched the clocks all turn over from 2-3am instantly. Let me tell you, that is so weird!

So, I'm still on March Break and if you follow me on twitter or instagram, you might have seen over the past month a lot of makeup hauling going on. I don't know why the sudden switch but I haven't been terribly interested in too much nail polish lately. That being said, I *might* try to upload a haul video to my YouTube channel. I say might because I have tried to do video's before but I HATE how my voice sounds, so maybe I can do a voice over or something!

Anyways, it is definitely feeling a little "springish" outside these days and Easter is coming up soon, earlier than usual this year, but somehow I keep switching between wanted to wear pastels..and well, other un-seasonal colours. Sally Hansen Blue-It is definitely one of those 'un-seasonal' colours, I've shown it here before but every time I put it on I remember how much I love it.

I don't have many blues but this metallic royal blue is so pretty <3

Thanks for reading loves!

Nail Art Challenge Week 2: Days 4, 7 & 10

Happy Sunday Everyone :)

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I have been working all week and next week is going to be just as crazy!  I'll get right into it since this will be picture heavy.

Day 4 was stripes and since I don't have a steady hand or striping tape, I decided to use regular tape. It didn't turn out the best but...I think the concept is cute? I used Cult Nails Tempest and Time Traveller for this look.

This is ugly. But I like the colors. I need striping tape. Yikes.

Terribly un-straight lines

Day 7 was a gradient. I have done quite a few gradients and I still have mixed results but I loved the colors for this one. I used Essie Snap Happy and Cult Nails Tempest.

I could've blended the colors better

My pinkie seems to be the best

Today's post is Day 10, which is color blocking. I'm not sure if I really sure if I understood color blocking? Not my best attempt, but I used OPI Need Sunglasses, and My Boyfriend Scales Walls. China Glaze For Audrey as well as Cult Nails Tempest, and Fetish.

Sorry there are a few nicks, I wanted to take these pictures ASAP with fleeting sunlight

I'm not sure I color blocked correctly, but I love the red and yellow

So these were my attempts for the nail art challenge this week! I'll be posting them on instagram as well, check out the tag #nailartmar to see everyone else's looks! I will be doing another two next week, see you then! <3
