Different Dimensions Review Part 1

Happy Sunday Friends!
Today I have something a little different for you! Elizabeth recently received some Different Dimension Polishes and she let me review a few of them for her!

Different Dimensions are polishes made by Missi Barry, a former nail tech and nail junkie (like the rest of us!!) creating her amazingly unique and personal glitter and glow in the dark polishes! You can find her Etsy website here and her facebook page here.

These glitters are really, really beautiful! Elizabeth let me pick my favorites to review and it was so hard. I chose Yours, Mine and Flowers, pastel colored glitter of varying sizes with pink flower glitter. Aorta Miss You But I Don't, which are hot pink and holographic glitter with hot pink hexes and heart shapes. As well I chose to review Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez! a nod to mardi gras with it's purple, green and gold glitter.

All of these glitters applied so easily and so well, each polish is two coats. They worked well, I was able to easily place the glitter where I wanted it to go, the only problem I had was the larger hexes were a little more difficult to fish out of the bottle, however I don't fish glitter out...so that may have been user error since I had no idea how to do it. I did flip the bottles upside down and was able to get the larger glitter out so it wasn't an issue. (Elizabeth's note: Probably because these are mini bottles it's a bit harder to fish out specific glitter, at least that is what I've found!)

I have some bottle shots below...the glitters are so sparkly, I wish I had real sunlight to capture them with!

The first up is Yours, Mine and Flowers, pastel hexes, iridescent glitter and flower shaped glitter. I feel these would make excellent jelly sandwiches with the right polishes...I was thinking the OPI Ballet collection would look great with this one! This is two coats over Rimmel Gray Matter

I loved the mix of pastel hexes and iridescent

The flowers were super cute and made me miss spring!

Up next I have I Aorta Miss You But I Don't... BEAUTIFUL pink hexes and glitter with hearts! I picked this first for the name and second for the gorgeous color! This color looks so much better IRL and would look amazing in the sun light. This is two coats again over My Boyfriend Scales Walls.  I was wondering if perhaps with maybe 4 coats this could almost be opaque. I'm thinking I'll try that next! This glitter was my hands down favorite. I tried it over No Place Like Chrome (a silver) and I loved that combination as well!

Love the pink

This glitter payoff was awesome!!

My last polish to show you is Laissez les Bon Temps Roulez, a Mardi Gras themed polish using their slogan which translates to "Let the Good Times Roll". I loved this combination so much I put it on the other hand after swatching and wore it work! This polish is an equal mix of gold, green and purple glitter, very representative of the Mardi Gras beads, I love this color scheme! This was an easy two coats and I think if you did 4 coats it could be close to opaque as well! This is over Cult Nails Fetish (I'm not sure why I didn't do it over Nevermore since the wax finish doesn't show up...)

The Purple and Gold pop way more IRL

This best shows the color payoff

I had the most compliments at work with this one! So festive!

These glitters are amazing and I loved each and everyone! The soft pastel glitter felt so girly and dainty to me that I was surprised at how much I loved it. Aorta was my favorite in the bottle and I can't wait to see more combinations of this one! I am currently still loving Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez and am enjoying it so much! I have no complaints over these polishes and I look forward to checking out more Different Dimension polishes! If you want any of these polishes, hit up Different Dimension's Etsy Site

I hope you enjoyed my first ever review! I hope I did these gorgeous polishes justice and thanks to Elizabeth for letting me review some for her! Enjoy your Sunday! <3

Inspired Manicure & A Tag

Happy Saturday! I can't believe February is almost over, already 2013 seems to be flying by for me! My weekend is looking pretty low-key so far, my brother & his girlfriend are visiting while they're on reading week, so maybe we'll do some shopping or go to the Auto Show downtown!

A few weeks ago, Marta posted this manicure that she re-created from a look our lovely friend Karen @ Nail Call and as soon as I saw her post it on instagram, I knew I had to try it for myself. I didn't have all the colours Marta/Karen have but I made due with what was in my Helmer!

I used Misa Pay Days Are Happy Days, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and Cult Nails Princess as the base colours, Cult Nails Nevermore as my stamping colour and then the bow is konad plate m59, and the houndstooth pattern is plate m63.

Also, Tracy from Beauty Reflections tagged me in a random beauty questions tag, so I figured I'd give it a go, since I'm getting more and more makeup obsessed these days! If you're only here for the nails, feel free to skip!

1. What's the one beauty product you ALWAYS use no matter what? I always use black eyeliner, sometimes just at my lashline, sometimes in my waterline, sometimes both, but always eyeliner.

2. High end mascaras? Or drugstore mascaras? I really don't have an answer for this one, I have fairly thick, long black lashes that are relatively curled, so I always find whatever I put on, just gives a little something extra. I think right now I have 3 high-end ish samples from Sephora, 2 drugstore mascaras and 1 full high end in my makeup bag that I use interchangeably...

3. Lipstick? Or lip gloss? Or lip balm? Which do you prefer or wear the most? I always, always, always wear lip balm, but most days I usually wear a gloss too, although now when I'm teaching I'll wear lipstick..so it's pretty even!

4. What's the one makeup brand that you love everything they make, and could use for the rest of your life- shunning all others? MAC, even though sometimes their collections are boring, or full of re-promotes, there is always another eyeshadow, or lipglass, or lipstick that I could buy and be happy with!

5. Who's your favourite character in the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy? Galadrial...only because she's so pretty..and she scared me in the movies (I don't remember why..)

6.  How would you describe your beauty style? I like to think it's relatively minimal but I have been wearing more lately, I've had bad skin, so sometimes I try to detract from that with some pretty eyeshadow!

7.  Do you follow makeup trends?  Not really, I was never into red lipstick, and even though I own a tube, it's not my "go-to" look when I do a night out..

8.  Do you like coloured mascara? Or not? I used to have Benefit BadGal mascara in plum and I thought it was pretty but I'm not a fan of coloured mascara's that aren't subtle.

9. Cake? Or pie? Or what's your favourite dessert? Cake..and Pie..and brownies..I just like dessert!

10.  Which do you prefer? Liquid eyeliner or pencils? I prefer pencils because I can use them better but I like the look of liquid, however I'm terrible at applying it!

11. Do you use a bronzer? Every day or not at all? Which one is your favourite? I do, most days I'm wearing one. Right now I have a sample of NARS Laguna that I use, or I just purchased Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder in 02 Sun Blondes, which I LOVE.

So, I'm not going to tag anyone, but I will make up 11 questions and if you want to participate, feel free!

1. How many foundations do you own?
2. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
3. Do you have a go-to makeup look?
4. What about nails, a go-to nail polish look (had to get a nail polish one in there ;)
5. How often do you try new skin care products?
6. Steak, Chicken or Fish?
7. What is your favourite lip balm (I know we all have at least 1!)
8. When did you start wearing makeup consistently?
9. Do you find you look older or younger with makeup on?
10. How many lipsticks do you own?
11. What beauty product do you wish was still made?

Winter Blues

Hi lovelies! Happy Thursday! I can't believe it's Thursday already! My week has been super short because Monday was a holiday, and then it's only 2 weeks until March Break, which I am forced to take off because school's out! But oh well, I'm planning to head up to where my boyfriend lives and go snowboarding at a local resort.

These nails I'm posting today are actually from the vault, from somewhere mid-January, back in the "heart of winter" or what we usually call the deep freeze period. I was feeling all winter blah and I wanted a nice jolt of colour to lift my spirits. Etude House BL505 is such a beautiful deep glass fleck blue, I wish I had more access to Etude house polishes. I am going to warn you though, my cuticles are SO dry and because the weather went into a super cold snap (we're talking a week of -15 and colder) no matter how much product I put on my nails, they dried out, because my house is so dry! So, sorry that they are gross. But the polish is pretty?

Look at the polish, not the hands. Anyways, I hope you're having a fantastic Thursday!

Purple Sweater Nails

Hi loves & Happy Tuesday! Yesterday was Family Day in Ontario and also my birthday! My sister came home from London to be at home for our birthday!

Ever since ordering my NailCraze plates, I have been wanting to use the sweater looking/Ukrainian looking design! My father's family is Ukrainian and I love this design! I used China Glaze Grape Pop and Light as Air as my base colours and Cult Nails Nevermore as the stamping colour!

I really need to do this in the traditional red & white colours, and I can match one of the many Ukrainian cookbooks/tablecloths I have in my house!

Enjoy your Tuesday's loves <3

Belated Valentine's Day Nails

Happy Sunday Lovers!
Tomorrow is my birthday!!!! Yay!! I'm so excited! This week I had a nice Valentine's Day Dinner with the boyfriend, worked a lot and then hung out with my high school friends :)

This is what I wore on my nails for Valentine's Day! I used all Cult Nails products, two of them being from the 2nd Anniversary collection, Tempest and Fetish. WOW! I love Fetish! The wax finish is AMAZING! And while most people might think white is boring, it is SO HARD to find an opaque white...the other brands I used have discontinued them! GRR! I haven't had a chance to try out Blaze as I ordered with 2 other ladies and I don't think it's fair for me to get to have first choice the which Blaze I want! Who knows maybe it has the earrings!

I used various Bundle  monster plates to stamp lip prints and hearts all over my nails. The polishes I used were Fetish, Tempest, Nevermore, Evil Queen and Bitten!

Bitten and Tempest on Thumb, Evil Queen and Nevermore on my index

Tempest and Fetish on my middle and ring fingers, Fetish on my pinkie

My right hand looks awful, but thank goodness I don't photograph it!!
How was everyone else's week's and Valentine's Day? I loved looking at everyone's manicures and I hope you have a great start to your long weekend (if you're Canadian!) <3

White and Gold

Happy Saturday my loves! If you follow me on twitter (@emlangille) or instagram (elizabethmegan3) yesterday you will have seen that my Toronto shopping trip was a success in some sense..I definitely spent a bit too much on MAC products but I'm so happy. I bought Rebel Lipstick which is this deeper berry tone and I LOVE it, and surprisingly, I bought the Viva Glam Nicki 2 lipglass, which looks crazy in the tube but it's SO pretty over any lipstick. I also got my Sephora birthday gift & it is so cute! I got a mini "They`re Real" mascara and "Watt`s Up" highlighter from Benefit!

So a few weeks ago, Marta posted this manicure on instagram and I KNEW I had to try my hand at it. I don`t have Cirque Never Nude or the set of GALS stamping plates but I made it work with what I had. The base is OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and China Glaze Passion, and I stamped in Passion as well, with BM plate 314.

I hope you all have a fantastic Saturday! I`m going to be lazing around, and spending the weekend with my family, since my birthday is Monday!

I Think I've Finally Mastered the Jelly Sandwich

Hi Loves! Happy Friday! I hope you all had a fantastic Valentine's Day, I had dinner with my parents and then a lovely, unexpected phone call from my boyfriend. Today I'm heading downtown Toronto to do some early Birthday shopping for myself and eat lunch with my Dad! Hopefully I'll be picking up some MAC goodies, and perhaps a little something from Chanel ;)

So, everyone does Jelly sandwiches so successfully and I can never get them right, but this time, I think I have finally succeeded. This is 2 coats of OPI Bubble Bath, 2 Coats of Pirouette My Whistle and then a final coat of OPI Bubble Bath.

I can't say I'm the biggest fan of this look..my nails are stained (no matter what I do), and it definitely shows through :( But hey, I tried it, so that has to count for something, right?

Happy Valentine's Day

Hi Loves! Happy Valentine's Day! Anyone doing anything special? I won't be, but that is because my boyfriend lives far away, and to be honest, for the 6 years that we have been dating we have never been able to spend a Valentine's Day together, so really, I don't think I'm missing out! I do hope, however, that I get to teach a class of Kindergartens, 1s, 2s, or 3s, because they will probably be the most fun today!

Today's manicure is pretty simple, but I think it's super cute! The base is China Glaze Ahoy! which I need to use more often, stamped with Cult Nails Nevermore and Konad White, using stamps from the BM 311 plate!

There you have it! I'll keep it short and sweet! If you're doing anything fun, I'd love to hear about it in the comments!

Black and Pink x2

Happy Hump Day! I  swear I am still so full from pancakes yesterday guys, it's ridiculous! So, if you follow me on instagram, you'll have seen that on Monday I redeemed some points at Shoppers Drug Mart (one of our main drugstores here in Canada) and I bought a bunch of High-End goodies, including some Guerlain Meteorites Perles, and let me tell you, I am hooked. I'm not a beauty blogger, so I don't know if I'll ever post on them but seriously, google them, and then run out and buy some. They are amazing <3

Ok, so back to polish, right? That's what you came here for, not my ramblings on beauty products! I wanted something simple, and after Katy used this heart image from Bundle Monster 317, I wanted to try it too! So the base is Cult Nails Nevermore, stamped with a Sally Hansen Metallic Pink (the name rubbed off the bottle :( boo. ) and then I mattified it with my NYC matte top coat.

I hope you all enjoyed today's manicure <3 Thanks for reading.

Pink and Black Hearts

Hi loves! Happy Tuesday, or should I say Happy Fat Tuesday? Anyone going to a Pancake Supper tonight? I am, my family always celebrates, although, since I'm not catholic, the "giving up something for Lent" thing never goes over very well. My willpower is not strong.

So, because Valentine's Day is on Thursday, I thought over the next few days I'd show some valentine's day manicures.I have so many stamping plates with heart/love/valentine's appropriate images and I never get to use them all, it's such a shame! So today I have a simple manicure, OPI Strawberry Margarita, and little hearts from my new Nail Craze plate stamped in Cult Nails Blackout. So cute, I'll definitely be using these hearts all the time!

I love this. OPI Strawberry Margarita is becoming one of my favourite pink cremes <3

Thanks for reading, Happy Tuesday!

Oktoberfest & Glitter

Hi loves! Happy Monday. I'm sorry I barely posted at all last week. I know, I suck. Every night I'd think, "I should prep a post", and then forget that I thought about it...and then the next day I'd wake up with no post prepped and I supply taught every day so when I got home, it felt kind of late to post. I'm sorry :( Bad blogger. Anyways, how did everyone survive the snowstorm? Ours was pretty big, had to dig my car out Friday when I left work, and now it's supposed to melt due to rain & 6 degree weather we're supposed to get, crazy!

So, I wore this a while ago, but I kept forgetting it was in my drafts post! I love OPI Every Month is Oktoberfest, and I love China Glaze I'm Not Lion, and so I decided they needed to meet and voila!

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday <3

Essie Sleek Sticks Review

Hello everyone!
Did you all survive the storm? I had to dig my car out a bit, and it took at least 15 minutes just to clear the snow just off my roof.

Awhile back I bought some Essie sleek sticks and I was so excited about them, and this week I have my review of Sticks and Stones.

This product is amazingly easy to use! I tried the Sally Hansen sticks before and they were too stretchy, I ended up ruining them before they were on my fingers.

That being said however I had some user error when trying to put these on. I stretched them over my finger tips a bit too far so when they were on they showed some of the nail tips :( also I made the mistake of putting top coat on....which shriveled the product, yikes :( Overall however I really enjoyed these nail stickers and hope they last awhile! I can hopefully apply my other set better next time!

I reversed my ring finger, just for a bit of an accent (dry hands, sorry )

Love how cute they looked!

Ack! Oh no, Katy! What have you done :( So much User error :(
Aside from my mistakes in application I have ZERO problems with these stickers and they come in SO many different designs! I have the snakeskin, but they have lace, red with gold studs...just so many options! Enjoy your week friends :)
