Belated Christmas Eve Manicure

Happy Friday Loves! I hope you've all been enjoying your break! Anyone go Boxing Day shopping? I went out but had no purpose to buy anything so I left empty-handed. I'm enjoying these days with nothing to do, and also looking forward to a wedding I will be attending on Sunday!

I put off posting my Christmas Eve manicure, mostly because I haven't been on the computer much lately, and the idea of watermarking and cropping was not appealing. I chose to imitate a manicure I saw on Canadian Nail Fanatic and when I initially saw it I was hoping I had a plate to simulate this manicure and lo and behold I realized I had just bought the same Pueen plate!!

I used the same base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, but didn't have the Girly Bits polish to use on top. Then I stamped with China Glaze Passion and the Pueen plate 15. Then I took China Glaze Just Be-Claws and Jolly Holly and dotted the small berries on the flowers. I think it turned out quite well and I really enjoyed how it looked!

Hope you're all having a wonderful Friday <3

Merry Christmas Eve

Happy Tuesday Loves and Merry Christmas Eve! I can't believe it's Christmas already, although due to the weather, crazy ice storm and whatnot, these past few days have actually just flown by! I'm not doing much today, baking some extra cookies for the next few days, then Church and dinner tonight with my boyfriend's family!

These nails aren't what I'm actually going to wear tonight, but I'll have to show you those tomorrow or Boxing Day!

This is a base of China Glaze Passion, stamped with konad special green polish, and bundle monster plates!

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas Eve and an even better Christmas tomorrow. Any of my GTA/Ontario friends without power, I hope you get it back on soon, and hopefully we can be thankful for all the Hydro crews who cancelled vacation to work hard for us!

Merry Christmas and Thanks for reading <3

Party Nails and an Ice Storm

Happy Monday Loves! I hope many of you escaped the crazy ice storm that parts of Ontario got. It began with freezing rain all day Saturday and through the night and by Sunday my street was filled with downed/falling trees and we lost power for quite some time! My family hosted my extended family Christmas party Saturday and while everyone arrived, it looked like a few of my family members weren't going to be able to leave Sunday to drive home!

I was a bit pressed for time, since I was helping to host the party, so I opted for some quick and easy nails. I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls topped with China Glaze White Cap and Essie Ruby Pumps, then stamped with a BM snowflake plate in konad special white and Zoya Sooki.

I uploaded this picture instagram, this is just a small look at my street and all the trees! Crazy Mother Nature!

KBShimmer Candy Cane Crush

Happy Friday Loves! Last night I got to visit my friend and her new 11 day old daughter and OMG she is cute. Sometimes I am probably a little baby crazy, but seriously, newborns just melt my heart. She has the chubbiest cheeks and the cutest little feet. It made my night and got me excited about all my little cousins visiting this weekend, even though they're definitely not newborns, I'm in kid-mode now!

I have been lusting after KBShimmer Candy Cane Crush since last year and thankfully this year I was able to snag it from Harlow & Co! Katie was wonderful and actually had an unscented version, so mine doesn't have scent, which is great for me! I'm excited to wear this for Christmas seasons to come, and even Valentine's Day! I layered CCC over Essie Going Incognito.

Candy Cane Crush is currently sold out at Harlow & Co, BUT it is part of the permanent line (I believe) so it comes back in stock, so if you follow Katie on Twitter, or Facebook you can keep up with her restock dates!

Hope you're all having a fantastic Friday!

Gingerbread Men

Happy Thursday Loves! I am officially off work until January 6th and I am loving it. I'm looking forward to finishing wrapping, having my family Christmas party this weekend and just lounging around and NOT being tied to my phone (as a supply teacher, that's how we get called in for jobs, 5:30pm-9:30pm every evening and 6:00 am-12:30pm every morning).

This post is just a quick little one. I tried out a new technique that I'd been seeing forever but never really sat down to attempt. Canadian Nail Fanatic not only has an amazing collection of stamping plates, but she's also amazing with her stamping designs. For awhile she has been trying out making stamping decals out of her images and I figured I would give it a go. I used her "tutorial" here and tried it out with a gingerbread man stamp from BM 222. It has a border, but I skipped the border, stamped the original image in brown, filled the dots and face in with red & white and topped with SV! I layered the decals over a base of Sally Hansen Silver Sweep. Sadly, my image bubbled and the edges went a bit crinkly, not too sure why, I'll have to practice more, but it's such an easy way to get a more colourful/detailed stamp.

I only have one photo because my camera that day couldn't take a non-blurry image to save it's life no matter what I did!

Have any of you tried decals? I might have another go at them for Christmas Day!

Ugly Sweater Nails

Happy Tuesday Loves! I hope you're all having fantastic weeks! It is freezing where I live, but other than a few random things, I really don't have to leave my house at all this week. I think I might just hole up and sit in front of my fire all week!

This past Saturday I went to an "ugly Christmas sweater" party with my family at my neighbours. It was a bit last minute, and we didn't have any real Christmas sweaters, so I scoured my local Value Village for ugly sweaters. It didn't really matter, since not everyone was Christmas-themed anyways, but I wanted my nails to match the theme. Last year I saw this manicure that Chelsea of The Nail Network created and I knew I had to try it out, since I had all the same stamps.

I used a base of OPI Got the Blues for Red, then BM214, BM 14, konad m57 and mash m50 and konad special white polish. Mine is a bit messier than hers, but I was happy with how it turned out!

Ironically, as I post this, today at the school I am teaching at, it is "Festive Sweater Day" (aka Ugly Christmas Sweater Day) so I borrowed a sweater one of my neighbour's wore to Saturday's party because it was way more festive (and cuter) than what I had!

Frosty the Snowman

Happy Monday my loves! It's almost Christmas time, are you all ready?! I'm almost off work and this week I'm just going to try to finish up decorating, start wrapping and start baking for my family Christmas party on Saturday!

It's been rather chilly here, and thankfully we did get some snow to accompany the freezing temperatures, so I figured my nails should reflect the outside a bit. I used Orly Blue Collar, sponged a bit of China Glaze White Cap on the tips, then various snowflakes from BM and konad plates, and a snow man!

Happy Monday Loves!

Holiday Nails

Hello lovely readers!

It has been awhile!! Since I last blogged I have moved into a brand new apartment with my boyfriend, I went to Australia to visit my old roommate, and came back totally in love with the country, and have just lately been working at my restaurant job about 5-6 days a week! I wasn't painting my nails or doing anything exciting, so I just didn't come back to lifeandpolish for a bit.

I was feeling very inspired by all the beautiful snowy weather we are having in Canada, and I am definitely in the Christmas spirit so I just had to share my nails with you!

I used China Glaze's Velvet Bow (last year's Christmas collection), and Essie's Ruby Slippers, with a little bow stamp from my Bundle Monster plates. I stamped with Essie's No Place like Chrome (my go-to).

Please excuse the dry hands...I left my nice hand cream at a friend's after doing her nails, and I'm struggling to keep my fingers looking their best!

Also I used my brother's camera (he lent it to me for my trip) and wow, it shows all my flaws! So I did re-touch a little bit...the camera just picks up on everything...apparently my cuticles are dirty but I can't see it in real life!

Just a teeny bit of editing done ;)

Love this wine colored red!

It looks a lot less purple IRL

Well, that's it for me today. Hopefully I can come up with a few more blog worthy posts--and hopefully my brother will let me keep his camera for a bit ;) My boyfriend's new computer has some interesting editing tools so I had some fun playing around with it today. Hope everyone is enjoying their December and Happy Holidays everyone <3

White Gifts

Happy Saturday loves! I hope you're all having great weeks. I'm finishing up my Christmas decorations, starting to wrap some presents and hopefully will be getting a tree this week!

This past Sunday was "White Gift" sunday at my Church, which is a tradition based on the Wise Men bringing Jesus gifts, we bring unwrapped gifts for various charities or Christmas Hamper programs. To go with the theme, I obviously had to paint my nails to match! I wore a base of China Glaze Holly Jolly, then stamped with konad special white and a present image from the BM plates, then added some silver with a striper!

Christmas Memories

Happy Thursday Lovelies! It's almost the end of school before Christmas break, which will be nice, but no work = no money, so I am definitely glad that I working lots this week, and so far I am booked for a day or 2 next week!

The last theme in the Nail Polish Canada Holiday Nail Art Contest was "Holiday Memories". In my mind, there are few specific things that evoke Christmas to me. They are candy canes, and clementines! Candy Canes are my favourite candy of the season, especially those cherry flavoured ones! I used Zoya Sooki as my base, then KBShimmer Candy Cane Crush as an accent nail, and stamped the candy/peppermint images with Bundle Monster and konad special white polish.

Thanks for reading. If you want to check out any of the other entries, go on and check out the rest of the submissions at Nail Polish Canada

Decorations

Happy Saturday my loves! We're only 17 sleeps away until Christmas Eve! I am getting excited! We started decorating at my house this past week, and even though we don't have a tree yet, it's looking pretty festive! I can't wait until we get our tree, but since we get a real tree every year, it won't be for another week or so!

This week's challenge "theme" over at Nail Polish Canada's Nail Art Contest was "Decorations". I decided on a base of piCture pOlish's Beige, then stamped the tree image from a bundle monster plate, using konad special green polish. Then I added little red, blue and yellow dots! So simple, but so cute. I definitely want to try this again with some other colours!

I love how it turned out! If you want to vote for me, or someone else, or even add your own design, head over to Nail Polish Canada before tomorrow!

My First Liquid Sand

Happy Friday everyone! I'm sorry this is posted late, I meant to prep it last night but then I got a bit lazy and just went to bed, so here it is now. I'm taking a bit of a sick day today because I've had a recurring cold for about 2 weeks and even though I teach in High Schools, man some of those kids are germy..and sneezy, yuck! So I think an extra day off this weekend will help me be away from all the germs.

I've been hesitant about the Liquid Sand craze since it came out and I have actually been avoiding the polishes because I didn't think I'd like the texture. However, so many people have been wearing them and they looked so pretty I eventually had to cave. I bought OPI It's Frosty Outside, from the 2013 Holiday Collection and all I can say is I am never looking back. I think if I had to wear a texture on my nails for the rest of my life I'd be ok with that. I really don't have many words to describe their awesome-ness, so let's just look at pictures!

Now I just need a good gold one and I am set! I can't wait to wear this in some "skittlette" manicures!

Christmas Stamping Begins!

Happy Monday my loves! It's officially December and my favourite time of the year. I managed to sneak in a little decorating in my room yesterday so I'm happy! I had a fairly busy weekend but I've gotten all my Christmas shopping so now to sit back and enjoy December as it comes. I hope all of you Americans are over your Turkey comas and ready for a new week!

When I got my first package from Nail Polish Canada and the beautiful China Glaze polishes I knew I had to stamp over one of my manicures after swatching. China Glaze Just Be-Claws was so gorgeous I couldn't bear to take it off. Nail Craze stamping plate 03 has a design that sometimes makes me think of a Ukrainian-like pattern I used to see, but it also reminds me of old-fashioned holiday sweaters! I used that image and China Glaze Passion and I thought my "sweater nails" were so cute I nearly wore them for a whole week!

I know I have another image like this in one of my Bundle Monster sets so you will be seeing a similar manicure in the future!

Thanks for reading & I hope you have a fantastic Monday <3

China Glaze Be Merry, Be Bright

Happy Saturday Loves! I hope you're all having a great weekend! I had a great time last night at my "Christmas in the Village" event and now I am really in the Christmas mood. I'm finishing off my Christmas shopping today and I'm even going to start decorating!

The final polish from the gorgeous China Glaze Touch of Twinkle set I was sent by the awesome Nail Polish Canada is Be Merry, Be Bright. This polish is a great layering glitter. It has clear base filled with different sized pink and purple hex glitter. This is definitely a layering glitter and not a glitter to wear on it's own. I tried to make it opaque and it does have a bit of a thicker texture and after 3 coats I still had bald patches and it was very lumpy. Instead, I layered 1 coat of it over Essie ChinChilly. It's very festive and I can't wait to try some other layering combinations!

*This polish was sent to me for an honest review*

I love Holiday Glitters and this is no exception. Once again you can find Be Merry, Be Bright here individually, or as part of the Trio I received here

I want to thank Nail Polish Canada so much for sending me these great Christmas polishes to review just in time for the beginning of the season. They have definitely helped me get into the Christmas mood and I hope they've helped you too!

Happy Saturday and Thanks for reading <3

Nail Polish Canada Challenge Week 1: Snow!

Happy Thursday my loves & Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends! I hope you're all enjoying Turkey and lots and lots of pie, and then getting lots of sleep in preparation for Black Friday (if that's your style).

Nail Polish Canada is once again holding their 2nd Annual Holiday Nail Art Challenge. I definitely enjoy nail art, and while I'm not artistically inclined at all, I love nail art challenges!

Week 1's theme was "Snow!" which always makes me think of snowflakes! It's very fitting that this week's challenge is snow, since we just got enough dumped on us to cover all the green! I used Cult Nails Princess and stamped over it with Pueen stamping plate 17 and Sally Hansen Silver Sweep.

It's a fairly simple design, but I love this plate and bought it just for the snowflakes!

You can see my entry here and you can vote for your favourite manicure!
