Day 30: Inspired by a Tutorial

Hi loves! It's Day 30! One more dayyyyy! Insane!!!

Day 30 was Inspired by a Tutorial, and well..I tried guys..I did :( I actually tried 3 different tutorials and this one turned out the best.
I tried this Cartoon Heart tutorial..and well, hers looks better. I used Orly Blue Collar..which for some reason looks super streaky in my photo, China Glaze Liquid Leather and OPI You're A Pisa Work
Look at my sad, lopsided, wobbly heart :( oh well!

Anyways, thanks for reading loves <3

Day 29: Inspired by the Supernatural

Hi my dears! It's tuesday but I am already wishing it was the weekend! I'm so beat! But I'm getting a pedicure this afternoon with a friend, so I'm looking forward to it!

So Day 29 is Inspired by the Supernatural, and I cheated a little bit for this day. I sat down to think about what to do for today, but all I could keep thinking about was 2 designs I did for Halloween, so I had to recycle them a little bit! To me, witches and haunted houses are what I define Supernatural as, even though I can't say I fully believe in "the supernatural"...I leave that for Halloween generally..to pretend.

2 more days left loves!

Day 28: Inspired by a Flag

Good morning and Happy Monday! How was everyone's thanksgiving weekend (if you're American)? I had a good weekend, quiet, but I got some Christmas shopping done and I even wrapped some presents! I know I'm a freak! It's awesome!

Anyways, Day 28 gave me some problems. Inspired by a flag was ANNOYING. I tried like 4 different flags..and ended up with the Japanese flag, which I think looks ugly because my dot isn't tidy and neat. :(Oh and my photoshop  is STILL not working. GRRR.
I still love how simplistic this flag is, I just hate my skills in attempting to draw it!

Thanks for reading loves! I can't believe we only have 3 days left!

Day 27: Inspired by Art

Happy Sunday friends!
This weekend I'm spending my Sunday with my boyfriend, yay!
I'll keep this short and sweet, my friend had a picture of the New York skyline so I attempted to copy it!
I used Rimmel's Grey Matter as my base, and then I used Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in "Diamonds" (I don't know if that's the real name) Finger paints Winter's Whisper to do a sponge gradient so it looked like stars. I then freehanded (yikes so bad!) buildings with China Glaze's liquid leather and the lights are Zoya's Pippa. All of this was topped off with Seche Vite!
Here's the inspiration:

(source:google images)

some shaky free hand art

Not sure if that really looks like the Empire State building
Well friends, there you have it, my shaky attempt to freehand some of the New York skyline! It's pretty bad, maybe I'll get better if I have real brushes instead of an old eyeliner brush, but I doubt it!! My hands are not steady! Hope you enjoyed it! This is my last 31 day challenge post but I really enjoyed it! I'm looking forward to some Christmas nails :)

Day 26: Inspired by a Pattern

Good morning and Happy Saturday! How is everyone? I'm having a great day, I'm going to a One of a Kind Craft show with my boyfriend this afternoon, it's going to be so fun! In other news, my photoshop has crapped out again? I don't know why this time...ugh.

So, Day 26 is Inspired by a Pattern! Konad plate M78 is definitely one of my all-time fav full image plates, so I decided to use the image with the hearts! I used OPI You're a Pisa Work.. as the base and Sally Hansen Gold Chrome to stamp with!

I wish I had longer nails and the pattern would all fit! Oh well!

Day 25: Inspired by Fashion

Woo hoo it's Friday loves! And Happy Thanksgiving Weekend to all my American loves! I hope all of you had a nice Thanksgiving yesterday :) I am excited, tonight I am going to a Christmas Tree lighting with my 6 and 10 year old cousins. It's awesome, there are reindeer, a petting zoo, free hot chocolate! So fun!

Anyways, Day 25 is inspired by Fashion. This was a little difficult for me, since I don't think a lot of fashion as a trend that is nail polish pattern inspiring. Colours yes, patterns..not so much! BUT! I did think of my favourite trend from the spring, the nautical stripes trend! So I obviously used China Glaze First Mate as my base and a white striper polish for the stripes!

Day 24 (a little late!): Inspired by a Book

Hi my lovelies! Yikes I can't believe I almost forgot to post today! I was sitting on my prep period, checking my emails & I realized I totally forgot to set up a post for today! Sorry :(

Anyways, today was Inspired by a Book. I wish I could do free hand nail art, because I have A TON of books that inspire me. But I decided to settle on The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne! So I used China Glaze Liquid Leather and Zoya Sooki!
Yeah I wish my 'A' was better but oh well!

I promise to make up a post for tomorrow right now!

Thanks for reading lovelies! <3

Day 23: Inspired by a Movie

Happy Wednesday loves! I can't believe I miss Pink Wednesdays! I don't know when I'll get back to them, since December is all about Christmas for me!

Day 23 is inspired by a movie, and since I'm already obsessed, I figured I could continue with the Christmas theme! The tv special, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, narrated by Burl Ives is my all-time fav christmas movie! So I attempted to stamp my nails with the deer image and make a red nose. It kind of failed, but I watched Rudolph while I painted my nails, so it made me happy!

Yay Christmas!

Day 22: Inspired by a Song

Hi my dears! This is going to be a super quick post, since I'm typing it before bed, eeek! My first day of teaching was yesterday and I had SO much planning to do that I didn't get around to typing this until Monday night!

Day 22 is Inspired by a Song, and since Christmas is now in season, especially in my local Canadian Tire, I decided to try to make a snowman, since I love Frosty the Snowman!

I don't think he turned out that well, but that's ok..I'm still happy and now singing Frosty the Snowman!
Anyone else have an earworm thanks to the Christmas Carols playing in stores now?

Thanks for reading loves and don't forget to check out Aly and Zara's blogs today! <3

Harlow & Co Review: Ozotic 528, 531

Good morning my dears! How is everyone today? I am so excited to bring you this review! I love when I get to talk about how amazing a company is, and it's even better when they are Canadian!

Harlow & Co. is the newest Canadian polish e-tailer, run by the awesome Miss Katie! She stocks Ozotics, piCture pOlish, Glitter Gal, Nubar, POP Beauty, Scotch Naturals and Spa Therapy Works! Now Spa Therapy Works isn't a polish line, it's a line of body scrubs and lip balms, BUT let me tell you, you want some of their products, they smell AMAZING. I have the death by chocolate lip balm, and I want to eat it. SERIOUSLY.

Harlow & Co. offers free shipping to Canada & the US on orders over $50, and if you're lucky enough to live in the Kitchener-Waterloo area (of Ontario), Katie can work out a drop-off, since she lives near by! Katie also packs her polishes awesomely, can I just say that? Opening up that package, you could tell how much she cares, which is so nice, since you always want your pretties to arrive safely and in one piece!

Ok, so onto my polish review, yes? It's going to be a bit picture heavy so the reviews are under the cut! Katie sent me Ozotic Elytra 528 and Ozotic Mish Mash 531!

Day 21: Inspired by a Colour

It's Monday! I'm off teaching today, so I might not get to posting/reading comments until I'm home in the afternoon! I'm starting teaching my first french class (Gr.9's) and taking back my Gr.10 English class and I am thrilled!

So, today is the beginning of Inspiration week, uh oh...this might get interesting...! Day 21 is Inspired by a Colour! Zoya Ibiza is definitely a gem in my collection, it's a beautiful colour, a really gorgeous deep inky blue. I LOVE navy blue paired with gold, so I decided to stamp Ibiza with Sally Hansen Gold Chrome and Konad plate 78!

(ps ignore the red/pink reflection in the picture..my damn camera!)

What do you think of Ibiza? This colour scheme is definitely a fav of mine, SO gorgeous!

Adopt A Polish

Hey Guys! If you've been over to my most favorite website, aka ChitChat Nails, done by my friend Marta, you may have heard about adopt a polish! It's a really cool and unique thing open to North American polish fans!
I've put up a bit of the press release for you so you can find out more!

WORLD’S FIRST NAIL POLISH ADOPTION AGENCY: PARENTS NEEDED
Adoptapolish.org announces the world’s first adoption drive for in need nail polish, available for U.S. and Canadian applicants.

Every day, thousands of nail polishes are abandoned or abused. They are not sticky or old, they are fine new polishes, stuck on a shelf because they are forgotten or out of season. All they desire is to be used, and maybe taken for a night on the town in return.

“We have so many polishes who need a good family to take them in” said AdoptAPolish.org
executive director Nikki Smith. “All it takes is filling out an application form describing how you can provide a better life for one of our in need nail polishes. We select the best application and take care of all the expenses, delivering your newly adopted polish directly to your door.”

One current nail polish, Charleston, held back tears well describing his life, “I spent two years of my life stacked in a dark room crammed together with thousands of others just like me,
hundreds pressing down on my shoulders at any given time. I’m a shimmer and I have never
seen sunlight in my life. Oh and don’t get me started on CND Shellac, I just can’t keep going as long, why would any women want me” he continued.

Please don’t let the agony go on any longer than it has
to. The first round of adoptions closes December 31st. Apply to Adopt a Polish at
http://www.adoptapolish.org/category/currentadoptions/

So there you have it! I personally put up my application for the lovely ORLY family of four so I encourage you to check them out! Make up your best application and hopefully you'll be the lucky adoptive parent and can show these polishes some love!
Thanks for tuning in! I know you don't get to see 2 posts from me in one day! Today is extra special ;) I hope you all enjoyed my first attempt at watermarbling (it won't be my last) and stay tuned for my "inspired by artwork" mani! Not even sure what to come up with (if you have suggestions, tweet me @cattylangille, I welcome new friends! or leave in the comments ) :) have a wonderful Sunday <3

Day 20: Water Marble

Hello my lovely Sunday-Funday Readers!
So today, day 20, I have my first ever water marble attempt! Now, it's not all the same color (as I thought experimenting might give you some ideas/help me see what works what doesn't work). They all have a base of Vintage Vamp by MAC, first mistake, should have used a white base as the polish covers the base up.
I used China Glaze Holly Jolly, Sally Hansen Whirlwhind White and Silver and there was a tiny bit of China Glaze's Phat Santa.

Here we go!
The thumb and index turned out the best

I like that the middle and ring finger only show 1 color besides the base but it wasn't intentional

Pinky is a giant fail :(

All in all I learned a lot and think I can successfully do it another time. I think I just had no idea how to draw some designs in the water, and using white wasn't a good choice. Next time I want to do a Christmas themed one I will remember to use white as the base and use green/red/silver or gold as my colors instead
Thanks for reading!

Day 19: Galaxies

Good morning and Happy Saturday my dears! What's everyone doing today? I am back at home ( my real home) for the next little while! I don't have another block of classes until January and I am thrilled. I do, however, have a lot of work to do this weekend. I start teaching again on Monday, and I have to prepare a quiz, and basically plan a unit for my Associate Teacher to look over before I take over the class full time! Yikes!

Anyways, Day 19 is Galaxy Nails, and I kind of enjoyed this more than I thought I would! I have been dying to try the space nails trend and it turned out way better than I thought! I was too lazy to name off all the polishes I used, so I took a picture of them!

I LOVE how this turned out! I think the first photo is my favourite, only because some nails are out of focus and it makes me think of photos of space!

I hope you enjoyed this one! Thanks for reading loves <3

Day 18: Half Moon Nails

Hi lovelies! How's everyone today?! It's friday!!! Who else is excited? Just me? My mom is coming to pick me up from school today and move me home, since my next teaching block is next monday until Christmas! So no more classes until January!

Day 18 is Half Moon Nails. Bleh...I was not excited about this one. A) I don't like this trend...at all..and B) I didn't have any reinforcements like people usually use. So, I thought I'd try Chloe's Nails approach, which is an edgy half moon, but my taping manicure skills suck too..so after 3 attempts..I traced a coin and cut out my pieces of tape..and did this. It sucks..but whatever. I used BB Couture Vampire Bite and Revlon Gold Coin.

My moons aren't even rounded. SO annoying. UGH..

Ok, sorry :( I hope tomorrow turns out better!

Day 17: Glitter

Thursdayyyyy! Probably my favourite day! At 12:30 pm I will be done class, and since I'm done all my assignments I'm going to chill, watch a lot of tv...maybe shop?

Day 17 is Glitter! I love glitter. I have a lot of glitter polishes, enough that I could do almost a month of glitter nails EVERY day. But I wouldn't..that is TOO much glitter removal for my poor nails!

Zoya Ivanka is one of my favourite glitters. It's green and sparkly! Awesome!
I hope you all have fantastic Thursdays & thanks for sticking with me so far in this challenge! I can't believe I'm 17 days in!

Day 16: Tribal Nails

Happy Hump day my dears! Wee! Today I'm handing in the bulk of my assignments, so I am feeling pretty good! Also, it's half way through the week and I cannot wait for friday!

Day 16 is Tribal Nails. I don't really know what that means..so I tried to stamp something and use colours I think would be tribal..ish?

I used Orly Blue Collar, BM plate 204, then dotted with Sephora by OPI Caliente Coral and Wet n Wild Black (which smeared :( sorry!)

Yeahhh...Can't say I'm a HUGE fan of these ones..maybe if I was better at freehand it would be more fun..

Ps Check out my guest post over at Oooh Shinies
Thanks for reading loves & don't forget to check out tomorrow :) <3

Day 15: Delicate Print

Good morning! It's Tuesday! Last night I spent wandering around Winner's (it's like Canada's version of Marshall's I think!) and it's all Christmas-fied! I LOVE IT.

So today is Day 15: Delicate Print and I think this is my FAVOURITE of the challenges so far. I used Dr. Remedy's Healing Heather Grey and Sally Hansen Silver Sweep and BM plate 20.

What do you think, delicate enough? It reminds me of wrapping paper we used to have!

Thanks for reading and don't forget to check back tomorrow <3

Day 14: Flower Nails

Happy Monday loves! Bleh I am so thankful I am in the last week of my classes until January. I have an exam & presentation today, a peer-review tomorrow, 5 assignments due wednesday (small ones), another presentation & a conference thursday and a presentation & lesson plan due friday. Whew!

Anyways, can you believe it's day 14?! YAY I've made it two weeks! I am proud of myself I hope you all realize!

Day 14 is Flowers and I thought I would revisit a favourite stamp of mine for today! BM plate 225 has the coolest Hawaiian flower design, and it's a reverse design! I used Sally Hansen Whirlwind White as the base and Konad Special Polish in Green for the stamp!

Not your typical flowers for November, huh?!

Thanks for reading loves<3

Day 13: Animal Print

 Hello my lovely Sunday friends!
How are we today? I'm so excited about today's post! I love animal print, it's one of the very few konad designs I've ever done, I think it may actually be THE only konad-ing I've ever done!

Today I have again the amazing mash plate 03, and used the zebra stripes to make tiger stripes!
I used a base of OPI's Warm and Fozzie from the new Muppets collection! I love love love this color however the duochrome wouldn't photograph very well, it just looks overly sparkly!
I used two coats of Warm and Fozzie and stamped over top with China Glaze's Liquid Leather. I definitely think I need to get a thicker, darker black to stamp with, but for now this works!

Also the first picture is from my first attempt at the nails, the rest are from when I re-did them because I had a lot of tip wear going on! I can't tell if it was shrinkage or tip wear  but BOTH times I wore W&F I photographed it minutes and only a few hours after I painted my nails so there shouldn't have been too much of an issue. Perhaps Seche Vite is finally playing tricks with me :(
Onto the pictures!

Hope you all enjoyed this! Up next, watermarbling! If you have some tips leave them in the comments please <3

Day 12: Stripes

Hello my dears. Happy Saturday and Happy Weekend! I am so happy to be home in my bed and I don't want to leave tomorrow! :(
Thankfully, next week is my last block of classes until January so I'll be home for good pretty soon!

I know all of you in the States are still looking forward to Thanksgiving, but in Canada, we're full on Christmas now, and I LOVE IT. And, since today's challenge was Stripes, I thought, why not peppermint stripes?

I used China Glaze Phat Santa, BM plate 20 and Sally Hansen Whirlwind White. My pinky is a little smudged, I tried to fix a line that went wonky and it's a little messy :(
Mmmmmmmmm! Doesn't this just make you want Candy Canes?! I know I do!

Day 11: Polka Dots

Hi loves and Happy Friday. Today is Rememberance Day in Canada and Veteran's Day in the United States. I hope everyone has the chance to watch a service, even if it's on TV. My brother will be marching in a Parade today and I am very proud of him!

Also, today is my mom's birthday (Happy Birthday Mommaaaa <3)

So today's challenge was Polka Dots! The base for today's design is the BEAUTIFUL BB Couture Maleficent Magenta (which, if you don't have, you NEED. NOW. GO, RUN, BUY!) and then I used m79 plate.

I love this plate! Polka Dots are so fun! And just for fun, here is Maleficent Magenta on her own
Yum!

Thanks for reading loves! <3

Day 10: Gradient Nails

Hola my wonderfuls! How is everyone's thursday shaping up? I only have class from 8:30-12, so I am going to have to do A LOT of work, since I am going home this weekend AND thursday is my TV night. And I have like 13 things due next week, soo...work time for me today!

Day 10 is Gradient Nails, and I am not going to lie, I kind of hate my nails today. I SUCKKKKK at Gradients and I think todays nails show that.

I used Orly Kiss the Bride, then sponged on Sally Hansen Tutti Fruitti, then OPI You're A Pisa Work, then some Kleancolor Chunky Holo Fuchsia. And I think it looks ugly..but it's a gradient, I guess.

Yeah, i think it's a fail of a gradient..but at least it's in my fav colour, right?

Thanks for reading loves! <3

Day 9: Rainbow Nails

Happy Hump Day my wonderfuls! I am so happy it's Wednesday. Tonight I am going to see the movie Anonymous, I am so excited!

Today is Rainbow Nails, and instead of going with the traditional stripes of Rainbow Colours, I decided to do Fireworks! I used Zoya Sooki, OPI Need Sunglasses, Konad Special Polish in Green, Sally Hansen Blue It and BB Couture Maleficent Magenta and topped it off with China Glaze Fairy Dust.

I'm sad you can't see more of the holographic sparkle from Fairy Dust, but I still love how it turned out!

What do you guys think?

Thanks for reading <3

Day 8: Metallic Nails

Good morning loves! It's tuesday already! This week is going to go by so fast for me, this week and next I have a ton of stuff due in teacher's college before I go back into my teaching practicum!

So day 8 is Metallic Nails, and I grabbed something out of my stash that I have never worn before. It's a Sally Hansen Nail Chrome polish, but sadly I don't know what it's called. The place where the name is wore off so I don't know :( If anyone knows what it is called, let me know!

The polish is a little streaky and frosty, but I can live with it!

Thanks for reading lovelies and check back tomorrow for day 9! <3

Monday, November 7, 2011

Day 7: Black and White Nails

Good morning and time to wake up to another week! I can't believe it's been 7 days of this challenge already! I'm somewhat impressed I've managed to keep up with it! The real task will be when I go back to teaching! aka 11 days from today!

Day 7 is Black and White Nails. I perused my stamping plates for awhile before I settled on this pattern from mash plate m73. I used Sally Hansen Whirlwind White and China Glaze Liquid Leather as my bases, and then stamped with konad special white and WnW Black Creme!

What do you think? I love this pattern, although it turned out better in the white stamp, I think!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for tomorrow! <3

Day 6: Violet Nails

Happy Sunday everyone!
I'm so excited to get to do a few of the 31 day challenge posts! I'm going to have to try REALLY HARD not to have a watermarble fail...it might just be 1 nail instead of a whole hand ;)

I have some pictures here that I took awhile back, loved them so much that I wanted to make them their own post instead of a layering so the time is finally right!

I used Cult Nails My Kind of Cool Aid and layered over top Zoya's Adina. Adina is an amazing duochrome and I've worn it at least 3 times since I've bought it (that's a lot in my books!)

A super pretty purple right there

Shows the duochrome in the bottle

You can see the pink/green on the nail

This shows it's almost a blue/purple/green
This is definitely a HUGE favourite of mine and I hope that you all enjoyed it and will enjoy the rest of the challenge! Next up for me? ANIMAL NAILS!
