It's Halloween!

Hi lovelies! It's Halloween! Anyone doing anything fun? Anyone trick-or-treating? (with kids or by yourself? I won't judge!) I'm back at school (aka not at my parent's house) so I have no idea if I'm in a neighbourhood with lots of kids, but we'll see. I love kids in costumes! They're so cute! I hope there are good Halloween movies on tonight too!

I had like 2 other manicures planned for today but because I am dumb, I didn't pack orange, or the green I wanted SO I couldn't do the ideas I had in my head. So, instead you get a very simple Halloween manicure, but I'm still so pleased with it.

I wore China Glaze Liquid Leather as my base and stamped the haunted house image from BM plate 224 and Konad special polish in white.
To me, Haunted Houses define Halloween, probably because the town next to mine had one in an old mill when I was younger, and it terrified me, because a guy jumped out with a real chain saw! (with the chain off, obvi!)

Anyways, I hope you all have a happy (and safe) halloween, and eat LOTS of candy! My favourite part!

Cult Nails Living Water

It's Sunday, Sunday, gotta get down on Sundayyyyy!! (Okay, sorry...)
I've got an amazing color to show you guys today!
We're all familiar with Cult Nails Living Water, but honestly pictures do NOT do it justice! It's a blackened teal base with teal glitter particles...looks amazing!
This is two coats with a top coat of Seche Vite.

Seriously awesome

shade, still awesome

trying out new hand positions..this is okay?

amazing glittery-blue

so nice!
Then I used BM plate # 13 and Sally Hansen Whirlwind White. Sorry I didn't clean up nicely but I thought it was a cute way to extend my manicure! And it fits in with Elizabeth's Halloween week :)
A little blurry but I think it's cute..minus the giant chip out of my thumb nail :(
Yay Hopefully I can start doing more konadicures!!!

My pictures have been getting better no? Now if only I could properly file my nails so they're all the same shape and size...any tips ladies?

Even more Halloween Bundle Monster Images

Good morning my loves & Happy Saturday. I can't believe I'm awake so early on a saturday morning! My sister just stopped by to visit. Her and her boyfriend are on their way to a wedding, about 4 hours east of me, and since Katy lives about 2&1/2 hours south west, and her boyfriend lives even further than her, they have a lot of driving to do to get to the wedding by 1 or 2 or whatever time it is!

Anyways, I have another simple manicure using more bundle monster plates! I love them! I used Sally Hansen Silver Sweep as my base, WnW Black as my stamping colour and BM plates BM 13, BM 223 and BM 213!
Eee! I love Halloween!

Thanks for reading loves! Have a great saturday! <3

Witches and Pumpkins, Oh My!

Good morning my dears! I want to apologize for skipping ANOTHER pink wednesday. Tuesday I came down with a cold, and it hit me hard. I came home from teaching on Tuesday and I slept from 3:30-7, ate dinner, then went back to bed at 8 and slept til 7am the next morning! I was so wiped, I didn't have time to show off any pink nails! Thankfully I am feeling better!

I wanted to use a Wet N Wild Night Prowl as a base for Halloween manicures since I bought it, so I used that, and stamped it with Sally Hansen Silver Sweep and BM plates 209 and 222! I love the pumpkin image from 222! It's SO cute!

Anyways, short and sweet cause I'm still sleepy from so much cold medicine!

Proof that Nails can Entertain 4 year old boys!

Happy Tuesday lovelies! Everyone gearing up for Halloween? I wish I wasn't going to be back at school on Halloween monday, it will be boring! I wanted to be home handing out candy!

On sundays, I often teach sunday school, and this past week I taught 4 year olds, which is more or less reading stories and colouring. Church was running long, and I had 4, 4 year old boys to look after, who did NOT want to colour. So, what to do? Show off my Halloween themed nails. 4 year olds love skulls, FYI LOL!

I used Revlon Stormy, then stamped with BM 225, and put some orange rhinestones in the eyes! I like it!
It's a little messy in the pictures, because it was after sunday school, aka after craft time, so there's some tip wear and I think glue (how embarassing) on my nails :/

Anyways, I hope you're loving the halloween nails. I've been dying for Halloween since I got into stamping last January!

Kickin' Off Halloween Week

Happy Monday! I am so exhausted, I wish I could go back to bed instead of going to school to teach. *SIGH*

I decided I wanted to kick off Halloween week with a somewhat simple manicure, but it's what always makes me think of Halloween.

I used SOPI Caliente Coral and topped it with 1 coat of OPI Man of La Mancha, and then stamped my nails with BM 13 and WnW Black.

I seriously love Halloween, and I love that it starts hinting at Halloween when things start showing up orange with bats on them!

Zoya Pippa

Hello!
How's everyone's Sunday? Mine's ok, lots of school work :(
Before I get started today I just have something to address. Last week Elizabeth deleted a comment one of you wanted to post (it was anonymous) about how bad my cuticles look and that I don't care about blogging or take it seriously. Now I didn't get a chance to read this comment and I'm just going to assume it was constructive criticism. (skip down to pictures if you don't care about my comments)

However I don't want anyone to think that I don't take blogging seriously. I work in a restaurant and I wash my hands at least 10 times in a three hour shift and use copious amounts of hand sanitizer. This does not always lead to the best cuticles and sometimes I do have trouble moisturizing them enough to not show up in pictures. I'm sorry about this but unfortunately it's just a draw back of serving people food. This does not mean that I don't care and that's really the issue that made me sad.

My hands don't look like Elizabeth's, I stress over this fact all the time, however I DO care about blogging. I am always excited to post and share with you and I hope you don't misunderstand my sad cuticles for a lack of enthusiasm or seriousness. That being said I always open to constructive criticism in the comments, I think that Elizabeth felt this comment was not directed in a positive or constructive manner and so that's why it didn't show up on the blog. I will try my best to ensure I that I do pay more attention to cuticles before I photograph but I can't promise perfection. *end rant*

Ok, sorry about all that, on to polish! I have a lovely yellow to brighten your day, that's right Zoya's Pippa!
This is about 4 coats (I SUCK at applying yellow's) I'm sure you could get away with 3 if you were a bit better but all in all not awful!
On top I threw on Zoya's Katy (don't worry I'll be showcasing this beauty on it's own)
My dotting is getting a teeny bit better!

in the shade
really comes alive in the sun
oh Katy, I love you ;)

I still think my pictures are getting better (although these are older photos) the out of focus fingers are my fault though!
So how do we feel about yellows? Love em' or leave em?

Milani Disco Nights

Happy weekend! Anyone have any fun plans this weekend? I'm basically catching up on all my life things, going to appointments, and preparing for going back to school in a week! :(

I have another Milani polish to show you lovelies! I bought it wayyyyyyyyy back in January and I have never worn it, not sure why! Since I missed Pink Wednesday, I figured I needed to wear a little pink to brighten up my week! Disco Nights is a light pink glitter polish. It took about 4 coats to get this to opacity, which I don't mind but it might be a bit for some of you!

I'm excited, next week is ALLL Halloween here at Life and Polish! I've been dying to break out my stamping plates, so I hope you all enjoy that!
Have a fabulous weekend, and thanks for reading <3

Some Glitter Layering

Happy Friday my loves! I hope you're all doing well! I am at a P.A. Day right now, aka eating lots of food during a department meeting and chilling with some other teachers! I can't believe I have 1 more week and then my first practicum block is over! I wish my practicum block would never end! Thank god I'll be back in November!

Anyways, I bought Milani Gems back in my USA trip and I've been wanting to try it out for a while as a layering glitter, and Zoya Sooki was just screaming it's name!

I just love this combination together! I think Milani Gems just cheers up any manicure!

Anyways, this is short and sweet loves, thanks for reading! <3

Ulta For Bitten

Happy Thursday loves! I can't believe it's almost the end of October! This past week has been crazy for me! I had my first set of Parent Teacher interviews this week and a whole bunch of preparation for my first assessment of my first practicum block. I'm exhausted!

Anyways, I have a polish that I've been dying to show you but I've been holding off because I wanted to wear it when it "felt" right. I know, I'm crazy! Anyways, I picked up Ulta For Bitten when I was in the states back in August, and it's a gorgeous polish!

For Bitten is a dark base with glass fleck-like red glitter and it's beautiful!

For me it's the best way to transition to going from fall to Halloween!

Fall Inspired

It's tuesday! I know I've been pretty absent from twitter lately/skipping posting some days here and there and I'm sorry. I don't have a smartphone (I KNOW, crazy right?) so I don't have access to twitter unless I have my laptop and right now I'm half-way through my month long block of a teaching placement, which means I'm up/awake and teaching from 7am-4pm, then come home, do some lesson plans, paint my nails and I crash. I'm SO TIRED. But I'm trying to get back into the swing of things and I have some fun nails planned for halloween next week!

The manicure I have to show you today got me SO many compliments, and it's definitely fall inspired. I saw this look on Nail Stories, who saw it on Nihrida's site! It's awesome. I used Cult Nails Cruisin' Nude, sponged it with OPI Vodka and Caviar, SOPI Caliente Coral and OPI Got Sunglasses?, and stamped over that with BM 205.

What do you think loves? I love how the sponge effect looks! I'm glad other people are so inspiring, since I would never come up with this on my own, but once I saw it, I HAD TO try it!

OPI Got the Blues for Red

Hiya my wonderfuls! How is everyone's Monday? I'm back to the grind, teaching my little gr.9's, and working my butt off!

I have another fall-ish inspired manicure, using one of my legit fav reds of all time, OPI Got the Blues for Red. I think this red colour really suits my skin tone, and it's not a super bright red, which wins points in my books. Then I stamped it with Sally Hansen Gold Chrome and BM 201.

This is one of my fav stamping combinations that I  have done in a while, it's so simple but I love it. I definitely wore it for a few days because I couldn't part with it!

What do you think lovelies?

Red Spam

Hey Friends!
Another Sunday Funday!
I've got Cult Nails Quench, a beautiful blood-red jelly! This is 3 coats and a coat of Seche Vite. Ignore the scratch marks I unfortunately just got off work and in the glare of my lamp it's super noticeable.
mmm blood red

This is how she looks in the shade

ignore the weird glare, I was trying to show the shiny-ness

shiny blood red jelly :)
So? Are we loving this? I'm definitely going to konadicure this one up! Who else out there has this?

Orange Glitter

Weeeeee! Happy Friday my dears! I'm writing this under the influence of a glass of wine plus some dayquil, so there might be some rambling. Someone was talking on twitter about listening to the Ramones "I wanna be sedated" and now it's all I can sing..GRRRR I hate when songs are stuck in your head!

I've been feeling so fall-ish but I haven't really been showing it off on my nails yet, so I figured before I go all Halloween-ed out in a week or two, I'd show off some fall-inspired nails.

This manicure isn't the typical fall-inspired, but fall makes me crave orange, and what makes a manicure better (in my eyes, at least)? GLITTER.

This is 1 coat SOPI Caliente Coral and 2 coats OPI Extrava-vaganza!

Yes, I pulled a Kirsten with my gravity-defying bottle, but I felt like it looked so cool at that angle...am I weird? LOL

Anyways, hope you enjoy the sparkle and have a great friday!

BB Couture Busty Bombshell

Good morning everyone & happy thursday! It's almost the weekend which makes me pumped, except that the weeks are slowly passing and my time at home will be coming to a temporary end soon! :(

Today I have my first BB Couture polish to show you & I'm so excited. I made a purchase awhile back from Overall Beauty, and took part in a buy 4 get 1 free promotion! It did take a while for me to get my order, but only because you have to have BB Couture send them to Overall Beauty, who can then ship them to Canada, but I didn't care, since Kim is awesome and otherwise you can't get these polishes in Canadaland!

Busty Bombshell is part of their limited edition Eye Candy collection and it is a babe of a polish. It's an olive green base with silver microshimmer, as well as holographic glitter packed in the bottle!

The glitter mainly flashes gold and bright green, but that's okay because it is AWESOME. I love it, and it's a cool green!

Glitter Sandwich!

Happy Wednesday everyone! I love that this week is a short week, only 2 more days of teaching children, which is exhausting as I have been finding out. Oh well, I'll have to get used to it, since I have about 35 more years to go..so..yeah..a lifetime of exhaustiveness to look forward too? Awesome! LOL

Anyways, we all know what today is, MY FAVOURITE day of the week! Do you know why? BECAUSE we wear pink! WEEE. LOL I'm such a weirdo, anyways guys today I'm showing off a glitter sandwich, mainly because Kirsten does them all the time, and I'm always like "fbsdyf9waer it's so pretttttyyyyyyy!" and then never attempt it myself.

Today's glitter sandwich is using a pink franken I made, a pretty jelly-ish barbie pink with some shimmer, and Milani Gems! It reminds me of Deborah Lippmann Candy Shop, except that Candy Shop has like 20x the glitter and the base is a lot lighter!

Nom nom nom glitter sandwich! I love it. Probably because it's pink, but whatever!

Anyone else wearing pink today? Tweet me your nails @emlangille !

Born Pretty Review

Good morning and Happy Tuesday! How's everyone? I have to say I am impressed that my no-buy is going so well. I broke it a teensy bit to buy that China Glaze Party Hearty set/Fowl Play BUT it was under $10..so I'll let it slide. And I've only been buying topcoats/base/treatments when needed, so I'm impressed with myself. I think it helps that the fall collections aren't wowing me, and neither are the promo's for most of the Christmas collections, so yay for my wallet!

Today I have another Born Pretty review for you, another stamping plate and some of their stamping polishes!
I was sent the Hello Kitty plate, m71, and their black, white, red, blue, and yellow stamping polishes. They also sent me a stamper/scraper, but I didn't use it since I have my own konad one. Also, this is clearly pre-nubbinizing, which makes me long for my longer nails!
 and here's m71 up close!
So, I painted my nails, 2 white & 2 black to show you how well their stamping polishes showed up. I did stamp with the red polish, but it refused to show up AT all on the black and barely on the white, so I didn't include a picture of it, since for me, it's not a stamping polish.

The blue and yellow stamping polish worked the best for me, however the blue didn't show up over the black, like the yellow. BUT, they were both really crisp and pretty over the white. That makes me pretty happy, since the yellow is so vibrant and it's hard to find a good yellow stamping polish!
The black and the white are just average, the white is not as crisp as some of the white's I use, and neither is the black but they both get the job done.
And, as I said before, the red is a complete fail, sadly.

The stamping plate it's self was awesome, the images are a little big for my tiny fingers! It is cut well and easy to use, so if you're a Hello Kitty fan, I suggest getting this plate!

Once again, Born Pretty has awesome stamping plates and some polishes, and they have pretty much any kind of nail decoration you could want! Go to their site, Born Pretty Store and check them out! Also, don't forget, I have a coupon code for their site that ends this month! Just type in LAPK31 and you'll get 10% off!

Cult Nails Enigmatic

Happy Monday and Happy Thanksgiving Monday to all my Canadian loves! Yay! Day off lol! Everyone else, I hope you're having a wonderful monday, working or whatever it is that you're up to today!

I hope you're not getting sick of my Cult Nails polishes, because I have another one for you today, from their newest collection, their Hypnotic collection. Enigmatic drew me in, a) because it's purple and b) because it's a nice dark fall purple, with super subtle shimmer and some sparse silver shimmer in it. To me, it screams fall, so I had to have it!

This one is my favourite of my Cult Nails polishes, and even though it would be an awesome base for stamping, I left it bare, oddly enough. Don't know what was going through my head that day but clearly I wanted it to stand on it's own!

What do you think? Love this polish like me?

My First Holo

Happy Thanksgiving for all my Canadian friends :)
Yes friends, you did indeed read that title correctly.
I did not own a holographic polish until now. Shocking I know since I have gone from 6 to almost 80 polishes in less than 5 months!
This is about 2 coats of Nubar's Reclaim (it's awesome) and a top coat of Seche Vite (I don't know if SV dulls it like it does some other holos...this is my first one obviously).
Now this is a bit picture heavy so sorry, and as well I was playing around with picture size deciding if I like the huge ones better, so let me know in the comments!
Picture time is here!

I was trying to be artistic

So PRETTY!

Well there we go friends, not much to say about it since a picture says a thousand words (ha ha I'm so funny).
How do you feel about my new picture size? What's your favourite holo polish and what should I buy next? Thanks for reading!
