Green Zebra's!

Hi my wonderfuls! How's everyone doing? How's life? I want to say thank you so much to all you wonderful followers, I really hope you know that you make my day every day that I wake up and read comments you have left or see the follower number change. Ok, so onto my nails, the point of this blog right?! So recently, my loves Kirsten and Jen have been creating their own breed of colourful animals, a a pink leopard and a a pink cow, how fitting, in my favourite colour! Well in homage to their magical animals, and because Marta proved to me that Wet N Wild Ebony Hates Chris can be a stamping polish I decided to break out my zebra stamp on plate m57 and created my own animal, a green zebra!

I used China Glaze's Cha Cha Cha, a beautiful pearly shimmery green, almost a lime green, which grew on me as I applied it. This polish applied like a dream, and mannnn it glows. I love it. So, behold, my green zebra!

As I mentioned before, Marta, from Chit Chat Nails, who has been kindly taking my sister polish hunting and giving her manicures, has been stamping with Wet n Wild Ebony Hates Chris. I got this polish, attempted to stamp with it (the cursed BM dot pattern) and it slid all over, it was sheer..YUCK. I was mad at it. However, I have been trying it recently, along with China Glaze Liquid Leather, and while the two are not as thick as Wet n Wild Black Creme or Konad Special Polish in Black,  they both come out well, and the black gets sharper with topcoat added, for sure. So, in case you needed a new black, 2 more options for you!

Anyways, sorry for that long spiel, thanks for reading loves, what do you think of my pretty animal? If the 3 of us could make animals, we'd have a pretty colourful world don't you think?

A little shatter layering..for Pink Wednesday!

Hi lovelies! Happy Wednesday!

Today have I a manicure that is a little out of the norm from me, but because glitter/jelly sandwiches seem to be popping up everywhere, I thought I would try out a variation.

I first saw this technique over at Sam from Fashion Polish's blog, where she layered a jelly with a shatter, jump on over here to check out that post. 

When I saw that combination I LOVED the idea of it, especially because sometimes I think the White Shatter stands out a bit more than I would normally like it to. And when I think of jelly layering, my mind obviously goes to the OPI Texas Sorbets first!

I recently picked up OPI Guy Meets Galveston and I definitely wanted to try this layering look out. So this is 3 coats of GMG 1 coat of shatter, and then 1 more coat of GMG and then all topped off with a nice coat of seche vite (I have missed it so much, can you tell?)

GMG is a really pretty pink-leaning coral, and it's super shiny like the rest of the Texas Sorbets

So what do you think of this form of jelly layering? I really like it, I might have to try it with some other colours...maybe it would look cool with the China Glaze Kaleidoscopes..since they are fairly sheer on the first layer. Hmm... anyone else try this out?

Sinful I Love You

Good morning wonderfuls! 

Today I have another pretty polish to show you, and to prove that my secret love for purples is slowly gaining on my outright love for pink!

Sinful I Love You is a gorgeous deep purple jelly glitter! It's similar to Sinful's Daddy's Girl, but Daddy's Girl is darker and it has some flakie-ish glitter in it. Because I Love You is a jelly, there is some VNL, after 3 coats, but it's so pretty that if VNL doesn't bother you too much, then it's really not that big of a deal.

And then, because I wasn't satisfied with just purple glitter on my nails, I added black tips! 

I love how this came out..and I'm back to using SV again because it makes everything SO shiny. I love this manicure so much! I hope it lasts!

Splatter Manicure

Hi lovelies! Happy Monday! Another week here, a short one for us Canadians as friday is Canada Day and a Holiday!

Last night was the True Blood season 4 Premiere, which sadly I missed because I don't get HBO, but I am all caught up now (I dl'd it after it aired). I LOVE that show..especially after I read all the books, and have now read them multiple times over! I wanted to do a True Blood themed manicure but I didn't get around to it (and Katy beat me to it). I'll have to think up something cool for the finale!

So, rambling aside, my manicure I want to show you today is SO cool. I am kind of obsessed. The wonderful Jen of The Polish Aholic showed us a "how-to" splatter manicure the other day and I KNEW I had to try it. Katy attempted it with less success for her True Blood-inspired manicure yesterday, but thankfully me & my neon love had a bit more success. Neons+splatter, what is not to love. 

So I used 2 coats of Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Whirlwind White and then 6 polishes, China Glaze Pool Party, China Glaze Shocking Pink, China Glaze Sun Worshipper, China Glaze In The Lime Light, Nina Ultra Pro Celtic Sun and Orly Blue Collar. I used so many neons because well, I love them and I had a hard time taking out Japanese Koi & Flip Flop Fantasy..so I stuck with 6 instead of 8!

Sorry there are so many pictures, but I am obsessed you guys, seriously!

Also the colours aren't 100% accurate because they are all neons and REFUSED to photograph properly...sorry :(

I love this style of manicure BUT the one thing I am going to say is..I am messy..and I got nail polish every where. On my desk, on the bottles..on my hands (way up there on my hands, past the tape), even on my legs (I have no idea how). So, maybe I need to learn to be tidier..but regardless this is my new go-to nail art. It's so easy! I can't wait to try it with other colour combinations!

True Blood Fail

So this week I was trying out Jen's Splatter manicure and o-m-geee did I ever FAIL at it hard! I think my straw was too large or something because I was blowing my papers off the table but NO polish came out at all to splatter! I even tried more/less polish blobs...nope, not at all successful!

I was trying to do a blood-esque manicure since today is the premiere of True Blood season 4 BUT nope, all we currently have is a fail, so onto some pictures as to what I did, and how I tried to remedy a solution (it also didn't work and I'm currently typing with one hand polished, the other not)

First I painted them whirlwind white (sorry no clean up, half way through a fail I was too lazy..)

here's my straw...too big? Also some fun accounting...yay?

I taped my finger up, was trying to splatter, then I attempted to blob it on...uh oh

This is what I came up with..mmm nope. The full red finger I attempted to make my own fang stencil and place it on...then I covered it up. Again, didn't bother to clean up, it was coming right off

see my teeny tiny fangs...boo they didn't work :(

So that's my sad true blood fail. I used Zoya's Sooki (duh) for the red...it was a cute idea I just wish the splatter had worked...tomorrow I'll just repaint my nails white since it was a 2 coater, which was pretty awesome.

Anyways let's hope next week's manicure turns out much better!

Sometimes it takes a couple of tries..

Hi loves! How's everyone's day? Today's post is the product of frustration, even though it turned out looking pretty nice (in my opinion). I tried on like 4polishes, but either didn't like how they turned out or I ruined it.

After a few colours I didn't like and a failed patchwork, I decided that I would try my hands at this, which is kind of adventurous for me, but I was feeling up to the challenge even after so many fails.

I used Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Going Grape, which is a really cool purple/greeny blue duochrome, although sadly it doesn't translate in my pictures. Then I used Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Celeb City for the stripe & alternated the dots...and my version looks like this!

This one was in my lightbox because the sunlight was eluding me...

then I just took them in indoor lighting, but they are pretty colour accurate 

Well loves, what do you think? I am calling it a success for me! I wish my nails were a bit longer because my silver part is a little small and some of my dots are squished but hey, after a day of fails, I am VERY pleased with this.  Anyone else try this look? China Glaze Senorita Bonita

Good morning wonderfuls! How is everyone?  I'm currently hiding in my basement as I type this, because I got a slight sunburn over the other day and I don't want to aggravate it! However, my skin does really well with sunburns lol, it was really red yesterday, and it's basically a tan today WOO.

Ok anyways, to all of you who are going to lecture me about skin cancer, I know..I tried to not get burnt! I put on sunscreen, but it obviously didn't work :(

So, enough about sunburns, today I have one of the last colours from the China Glaze Island Escape collection to show you, the gorgeous Senorita Bonita! I wore this as my manicure for my sister's Convocation, because her school colours are gold & purple (how fun right? Mine were so boring!)

Anyways, Senorita Bonita is a gorgeous purple, which has FLAKIES in it. Tiny flakies, but STILL. Flakies. They give off the idea that there is glitter/shimmer in the polish and make it sort of glass fleck-y, but when you are applying this polish you can see it for sure!

This polish is so pretty, it is probably my favourite colour out of the collection, next to Papaya Punch! I can't wait to wear it on my toes!

My Go To Palette Cleanser

Hi loves! Today I am going to show you something out of the norm, something I think that a lot of nail bloggers either love or HATE. 

That's right, I'm talking about the basic white french. I used to always associate this type/style of manicure with fake nails, but after a while it became my go-to for weddings/fancy events when I couldn't decide what to paint my nails with.

I love this style, I think it's clean and crisp, and although you can make it funky with all kinds of coloured tips, I always go back to my plain old white french manicure.

I used 3 coats of OPI Bubble Bath for the base, since my nails are growing out some staining, and Sally Hansen White for the tips.

So what do you guys think? Hate this look? I know a lot of people think it is boring, it's my basic look, slash if /when I ever get married, this is what I'll be sporting on my nails (boring I know) but it's what I think bridal is.

China Glaze Shocking Pink

Hello my lovelies! Guess what? I LOVE PINK.

Yep. I said it. I bet you didn't know that! You know what else I love? NEON. so the two put together make me happy. And this is PINK and NEON. I seriously love neon's so much, especially when it is summer. I will never stop buying them. I literally feel like I could spend my summer tanning, by a pool (which I don't have sadly) with neon nails and toes and my life would be wonderful. Wouldn't everyones?

Anyways, China Glaze Shocking Pink is just that. Shocking. Pink. Neon. AND man you guys, I know I say this a lot, but this might be my favourite pink ever, maybe even one of my favourite nail polishes..or at least in the top 10. I couldn't get my camera to capture it 100% but I think it does it justice. Basically think Barbie Pink, then make it a neon, and you have Shocking Pink.

 I heard that if you photograph them underwater then you can get them to be true to real life...I don't think so

This is as close as I got and they are still glowing but it is seriously awesome!

Hard Candy Beetle

Hi lovelies! So today I have this awesome multichrome known as Hard Candy Beetle, something I was desperate to have but struggled to find since Canada doesn't sell Hard Candy nail polishes..why I don't know..but we don't.

So, the lovely Jasmine of  Colour Coated sent me a swap package a while back, and in it was this beauty.It is also a dupe for both MAC Mean and Green and Orly Space Cadet, so that satisfies those two lemmings..(for now maybe). I love me a good multichrome and this one is particularly pretty. I was staring at naked nails waiting and trying to decide what to wear and it struck me, DUH..this beauty of a polish.

So, this a little picture heavy, but I had to show you how many colours this flashes!

I'm happy to say my nails are slowly coming back from their nubbin state, and are getting back to where I like them, thank GOD. So any of you lovelies have this polish or the many dupes?
