Mini Haul and Mini Rant (Long Rant actually)

OK, I'll be nice to all you dolls and show you the picture of what I picked up today and my excitement about them all, and put the rant, no airing of my thoughts, after the photos.

So I picked up a new fast dry top coat to see if there were others out there just as good as SV, I haven't experienced the shrinkage but the scary label on the back freaks me out at bit. I also saw Orly Sec n' Dry at my Sally's and I might try that too. I was SO pumped to see the OPI DS at my Winners..so hell ya I grabbed it, at $5! And OPI MPJ and Russian Navy made me super excited too. YAY I own 2 holo's now (is that sad or what dolls, for a nail blogger?)
Now, onto my thoughts...

*I thought I could do an "After the jump" thingy, but I keep failing..so...skip the next lengthy section if you don't care...OK THANKS love you all dolls :)*

Today Landa, from Bright Lights, Big Colour posted a compiled Pet Peeve post, with her pet peeves and then other nail bloggers and OMG people..wtf?! Some drama was caused man and it was SO stupid and unnecessary...like just ridiculous. The biggest thing that annoyed me was all the people who were commenting "I don't understand why people don't like link spammers, how is a new blog supposed to get themselves out there?" OK hold on a-fucking-second. I'm gonna say, as a new blogger..when you go to a blog and you go to comment and in their comments it says "I don't appreciate link spamming, please don't, but feel free to email me if you want me to check out your blog/put you on my blogroll", you then take that as.."oh but I'm new that doesn't apply to me?" HOW THE FUCK don't you see that as getting on that blogger's nerves/their pet peeve? WTF. I am a new blog, and it takes a while to get out there, I love ALLLLL my followers and appreciate you all following me, but I don't expect to jump to 200 in a few months. It takes hard work people, I understand that. So everyone else that is new and doesn't understand how doing something a blogger has asked you not to and don't understand why they are pissed off/delete's your comment, then you shouldn't blog. That is MY opinion, and if you don't like it...then whatever, but you should be able to understand why it would be a pet peeve.

The other one is all the people whining about how as bloggers, if we see someone with ugly nails/terrible paint job, then we just shouldn't look, and well, I don't. I unfollowed about 6 blogs because, even though they had cool nail art and nice colours, they had TERRIBLE nails and terrible paint jobs. I know some people grow out their nails from acrylics/shit and sometimes you just let them grow and get strong before you file and shape etc, so ok..but I, and many other people, don't want to see your nails if they look like your 5 year old painted them. Paint on the skin around the nail, and even on the cuticles looks dirty, and messy, and like you don't care how they look. I feel that you don't really care about blogging if you do a slap dash job, and throw 'er up as a post. It is not that hard to fix some of it, even if you don't have pure acetone, nail polish remover REMOVES nail polish, aka it will take it off your cuticles. Use a q-tip if you don't have an eyeliner brush. Basically, all I'm saying is try. Maybe I sound stuck up or bitchy, or like clique-y, that there are rules to blogging..but whatever. I don't think these are rules, but I think they are guidelines, or things to think about, especially for your followers, and for yourself, if nothing else. 

I know a lot of people complained that there is no handbook for new bloggers, and YO people, I'm new, I get it..but look at a whole bunch of blogs, see what they do, look at their pics, ask them..it's not hard if you look around. I'm sorry if you all hate me after this but I felt the need to say something cause Landa got shit for it..and well she is amazing and i felt that people needed to realize that. I LOVE you all, and if you read all this then I love you more and you get a virtual hug and a cookie!

2 to Add to My Not-So Loved List (Pic heavy)

Well, I didn't think it was possible, but I have 2 nail polishes that I don't really love, and will probably part with, if possible. First up, I have China Glaze In The Lime Light, I bought it because it was in the beginning stages of my nail polish collecting, and I didn't have any neons or greens, so I grabbed it. Now that I have worn it (and I'm wearing it on my toes), I don't really love it. I like the look of the China Glaze Kiwicoolada better, from the poolside collection, but even that I'm not a fan of. I like green, I guess, just not neon. Anyways, in my pictures I have it as 1 coat on my index, 4 on my middle, 1 coat of white and 3 coats of In the Lime Light on my ring and 2 coats of white and 3 coats of In the Lime Light on my pinky. The white base was just to see if it made a huge colour difference, which in my opinion didn't, but whatever, it's for comparison's sake.

Next up, I have Wet n' Wild Gray's Anatomy, I thought I was really going to love this, but I think its a bit too sheer for my taste, and I'm not really one for layering polishes...just not my thing. My nails have 3 coats of Gray's Anatomy.

It's just really sheer. I might try it over top of black to see what it looks like, but it was kind of a disappointment. I have liked other people's swatches, they didn't seem as sheer as mine. Maybe I'll have to give it another go over a black or gray base. We'll see. How do you feel about these nail polishes? Have one? Like one? Want one? (We can swap!)

Also, my other obsessison, which has been dormant since my mom yelled at me, is purses. I used to own a lot/buy a lot, especially in High School. So, I was thinking of doing a "what's in your purse" blog post, which I have seen other places. Basically, you take a picture of your purse, and the contents, and gimme a label of the contents (maybe a lil back story if you so feel), what do you think? Interested? Polka Dot Fun

So, my friend Rachel and I had a nail polish date..mostly so she could see my stash and be amazed (it's not that huge, but to the average person it is). Anways, I decided to try one of my new dotting tools, and make a "springy" colour combo. I used OPI Need Sunglasses for the base (over 1 coat of white, because it's kind of sheer at first) and Sally Hansen Green with Envy for the dots. Pretty basic, but it was pretty :) I realize it's kinda messy, I was not the most careful with my application of Need Sunglasses or the dots. I just thought the colour combo was fun!

LOL can you tell I'm liking the spring-ish combos? I want it to be warm damnit!

Konad Attempt 2 YAY

Ok, so I just did this design...like 10 minutes ago..but I just wanted to show you all, because I'm so proud of my attempt. It's not even that great but whatever people I'm happy, and I keep staring at my nails! So, I used OPI Ink for the base, which I just bought. I LOVE IT..it's so pretty, it lots of light it looks blue, but in some lights it's a deep shimmery purple..aka wonderful goodness on your nails. The I stamped using Konad special polish white from image plate m24.

AND konad fail...haha I tried to fix a mistake and it all came off..whoops

Anyways, I like this design and hopefully it'll stay on my nails until saturday..that's a long time right? Thanks for reading & I hope you like this design too!

China Glaze Anchor's Away!

So a few weeks ago I picked up one of the Anchor's Away mini sets, and it had Life Preserver, First Mate, Ahoy and White Cap. I really liked the set, and after putting these on, I definitely also want Starbord, and Below Deck. So, onto swatches:
First Up, Life Preserver

It's a really pretty orange spice colour, I LOVE it surprisingly, and it also looks AMAZING with White Cap layered over top.
Next: Ahoy

This is probably my FAV out of the collection. I love pink, and it's raspberry-ish in hue, and, although my camera didn't pick it up, it has some gold in it, and it's so beautiful. I can't wait to wear it again..and on my toes.
Next: White Cap

So, this is a sheer colour, but it's so great. I love it for layering, but also I think I would wear it on it's own sometimes, for a more subdued look (if sparkle is subdued). I also wanna try it as a base for a french manicure.
Lastly: First Mate

This blue is also really pretty, it's a nice creme finish, like Life Preserver. I just love. That's all.

So, these are all 3 coats with no topcoat, they are really shiny and just awesome. I love this collection, I need more more more!
and Finally...I feel really proud of how my nails have grown, so it's natural nails timeeeeeeeeeeeee! They all have a coat of what I use as my base, Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle. It's a nail grower (obv) but I have never really done a full test, to see it's effectiveness. Maybe I will one day. Anyways yay look, I'm so proud.

First Konad Attempt

YAY you guys I can finally join the Konad world. I got it as a birthday present from my mom haha I threw out some pretty heavy hints so I was pretty sure I was going to get it. I got the double sided stamper, a scraper, plate holder, konad white polish and plates m24 and m39. So, since I was so excited to use it, I konaded over my birthday nails. The base is China Glaze Pool Party, and then I used the butterfly image from plate m39, with the konad white. I just did my ring fingers and thumbs because I wasn't sure how well I would be at Konading.

I know my stamps were not aligned really, or centered or anything, but I literally just threw it on there I was so excited. I can't wait to do some more stamping! It's so fun, and I LOVE the leopard print on the m24 plate. YAY. Thanks for reading :)

Haul & 2 Birthday Manicures

So, I bought more polish the other day, and I actually bought some colours that I don't normally choose:

I'm really excited for all the colours, especially the reds, because I literally have 3.
Onto nails..I originally painted my nails Sally Hansen Celeb City, which was nice, but I didn't do a good job and there were bald spots and maddddddd tipwear after one day. So I took it off, but I do have pictures for you

My pointer finger has a matte top coat, and the index has SV...my camera sucks so you can't tell

I like this colour alot, and I'll probably try it again soon,I just wasn't in the mood yesterday.
So now onto my real birthday nails. I chose China Glaze Pool Party! I LOVE it. It dries to a satiny matte finish, but I put SV over top so it would be shiny.

Purple..because it's my birthday!

Ok,so I said I would have pictures of a birthday manicure, and some other guest nails. However, my sister's plans changed, and we all painted our nails last night before going out. and well i didn't get to do my fancy manicure. BUT I bought more polish, which I will put up a post tomorrow on what I hauled. AND, I'm changing my nails today, so I'll take a few pictures of that, so hopefully tomorrow/sunday I'll have good nails.
However, because its my birthday, I decided to show you my FAV colour (so far) in my collection. I LOVE purple, even though I have alot of pinks, purple is my hands down colour. So, this is Coconut Kiss from China Glaze and I LOVE.

Look at that purple goodness, I am IN LOVE. anyways, I am sorry this is short, and I'm disappointed in myself for not following through. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy this colour as much as I do.

School Overtakes Life

Ok, so I don't have anything new to post today, and I probably won't be able to post until tomorrow or saturday. But I will have at least 2 different sets of nails, since I am going to my sister's house tonight to write a french test for Laurier university for Teacher's college, and then I'm staying overnight and bringing her home. She is going away to Cancun and has requested I bring my nail polish, so I told her she has to deal with being photographed! I'll try to get those up tomorrow, but right now I'm trying to cram my brain with as much french as possible..I don't think it is working.
Also I actually have had naked nails for 3 days now, because after taking off Charla, I had no desire to paint them again. I think it's because I'm stressed. But I promise to go back to normal, since as of tomorrow it is both my birthday & reading break!!! I'm going to try to swatch the mini collection of CG's Anchor's Away for you, because I love the colours!

Zoya Charla=Love

Ok, so I'm so over my valentine's day nails. I took it off this morning, because all day yesterday I kept staring at them and realizing what a terrible job I did painting them. I had lots of bald spots, which was definately my fault not the polishes.  So, I decided I would go on a Zoya kick, and try out the other 2 polishes I bought like a month ago. Zoya Charla is from the Sparkle collection, and it's so beautiful. It's very different from Astra, it's more of a glass fleck rather than a sparkle.

So, this colour, application wise was really great! This is three coats, and I am in love. The one thing I know is that it is going to be a mother to get off. It will stain I am POSITIVE..so that I am not looking forward to, but whatever, for now I'm loving the colour. What do you guys think? Are there others from the Sparkle collection that I should try?

*edit* I took this off like 20 minutes later and OMG major staining, however, i used baking soda/hydrogen peroxide and it got rid of the stains. but still...it might have lessened the love 

Valentine's Day Colour & A Fail

Ok, so I attempted nail art, however, I realized I didn't give myself enough time, because if I don't have time, then I don't have patience. So, I tried the drag marble art that Colette showed a little while ago, and if I had the time, and probably picked a better base colour, then it would have been fine. I wanted to wear the new Nicole by OPI Justin Beiber My Lifesaver, because I LOVE the colour. Well, I'll show you the pictures and explain my fail after.

And....FAIL

Ok, so first things first, MY Lifesaver is a terrible colour to do with the drag marble, you're supposed to do 2 quick coats, then put the dots in & drag so that it will work with wet polish. Well, My Lifesaver doesn't cover well in 2 coats, and if you try to put one on after another, it leaves bald patches and strokes. So I painted all my nails with 2 coats, then went back and added a third to the thumb & then dots and dragged. Well when I moved to the next nails, it dried..aka why it didn't drag. SO, this is a one nail at a time process I think..oh well, try again.
So, I changed my nails to Zoya Astra, which is a red glitter in a red base. It is really pretty and I decided that glitter was appropriate for Valentine's Day. The polish is pretty sheer, but as you  put on the coats it builds up. This is 4 coats and a top coat of Seche Vite.
