Pink Wednesdays: Pink Skittles

Happy Wednesday lovelies!

I'm just going to cut to the chase, because I am in love with today's manicure, and it's all because of the awesome Amy Grace! I love her blog, and her nails and recently she posted this manicure and I knew I had to try it out! (PS It's also her Wedding Anniversary and Blogoversary! So pop over there and leave her some love!)

So I tweaked it a bit, and made it a purely pink skittles version.

I'm wearing Orly Kiss the Bride on my thumbs (not pictured) and pinkies, Dr. Remedy's Healing Heather Grey on my index, with a pink franken dotted over top, Zoya Nova on my middle finger, and the same pink franken, stamped with konad white and plate m73.

Isn't it so cute?! I'm dying. I want to wear it in like 12 other colours! Weeeeee! I think the Plastics would approve! Happy Pink Wednesday my loves!

Tuesday Blues

Good morning and happy Tuesday!

Today and tomorrow I am running around semi-crazy, since I have to drive and move up to school Wednesday night and my orientation for school is 9am thursday, ugh!

Today's post is a quick one, a blue that I have recently fell in love with. If you know me, you know that I have a love/hate relationship with blues. I am really picky with what blue's I wear, and I'm not always drawn to them on the first go-around.

Sally Hansen Blue Away is a deep royal blue shimmer polish. I love it.

This polish just glows, and it normally would be an awesome base for nail art or konad, but for once I just felt like wearing a plain manicure (such a rarity for me, I know!)

Thanks for reading lovelies <3 I hope anyone else who is getting ready for school like me is excited :)

China Glaze Lubu Heels and Some Naked Nails

Good morning lovelies! Happy Monday! I can't believe we're at the end of august already!

I move to school on Wednesday, but already I can't wait for it to be October so I can be home and teaching, instead of in class, learning about curriculum's and how to teach..boring.

Anyways, since it's almost September, I am slowly moving into fall nail polish mode. I don't generally paint my nails with colours based on the seasons, I do gravitate towards darker colours in the fall. I picked up China Glaze Lubu Heels a while ago, after I agonized forever about buying RBL Black Russian, until someone told me they were basically dupes. And since it costs the price of another bottle to ship RBL to Canada, who could pass up such an inexpensive alternative? Not me, that's for sure!

China Glaze Lubu Heels is a black jelly polish with red micro glitter, and it's stunning. The red micro glitter really glows and brings this polish to life!

And now, just because, here are my their current length..naked :O (Well, there is a base coat..). I think I am going to keep them this length, give or take a few mm. I know to some people these are super short nubs (aka KIRSTEN) but for my tiny hands/nail beds, they're long, and when they get longer, they break SO much easier.

Anyways, thanks for reading lovelies and have a great monday :) <3

Baby Blue to...Gray-by Blue?

Hello my lovely Sunday readers!
How are things with you? I'm waiting out my day until I head to work, its SO HOT outside, 41 degrees (or 105.8! fahrenheit!) Ack! obviously it's super hot!

So I have two Joe Fresh polishes to show you, first one is Wave and the second is Oyster.
Wave is your typical baby blue polish with a teeny bit of shimmer that makes it almost frosty, it doesn't translate as well because the shimmer is SO faint.
On top I threw on Oyster to mute the baby blue before work, and it's a light grey with a purple shimmer. Oyster turned the baby blue into an almost gray-blue. I think it turned out so pretty!
Picture Timeeeee! (like T-shirt time, just not as fun)

You can almost see the shimmer in my nails
See? FAINT shimmer
2 coats of oyster, this gray-by blue!
This was the best bottle shot of the purple shimmer

So what do you guys think of these Joe Fresh polishes? I'll have to try Oyster out on it's own. Wave is not my favourite, looks pretty but it's globby, this is my second time attempting it. I have 7 Joe polishes and I have to say that I really only like Mallard, Twilight and Peacock, oh well :(

One Polish: 3 Ways

Hi my lovelies! How is everyone's Saturday going? I'm supposed to be going to a Blue Jays game tonight (baseball) followed by some drinks downtown Toronto at my friend's condo, and probably some street meat (aka hot dog vendors), so YAY. I never have Saturday plans. I'm so lame!

Anyways, today the polish I have for you is a colour I loveeee! Pre-nail polish obsession, my collection had several shade reminiscent to this! OPI Lincoln Park After Dark caught my eye after seeing it featured so many times on Erika's blog, Chloe's Nails! I love that it is a super blackened plum, so in most lights it looks black, but I find it's not as harsh!

And then, because I love how it looks when Erika does it, I taped off my tips and mattified everything above the tips. Erika does it differently, as she has the matte version of the polish, so she just makes everything shiny!
The sun came out for like 3

And then, just because, I wanted to see what it would look like the opposite way, matte tips & the rest shiny! So I topcoated it again, let it dry, then taped off my tips and mattified them.

So what do you think? I don't know what way I like this manicure best! I love both sets of tips, and I love it just shiny! It's awesome. What do you guys think?

A Lemming Fufilled

Hi my lacquered friends, yay it's friday! I've had a relatively boring week, but I'm always looking forward to the weekend!

Today I'm going to show you one of my biggest lemmings that was finally fufilled, in an awesome way! Back in December, before I started my blog, I got a manicure, and the glitter/sparkle whore in me chose this polish that was purple, sparkly and flakey awesomeness. I didn't wear nail polish too often, but this one caught my eye. So I started scouring the internet trying to find somewhere that sold OPI Merry Midnight. I was crushed when I found out it was a Holiday Collection from 2009, but in my searching, I stumbled across the world of nail blogs. And the obsession began.

Anways, I was always trying to find a bottle of OPI Merry Midnight, and I entered a giveaway solely because the blogger was giving away a bottle of this beauty, and lo and behold, I won! My first and only giveaway I have ever won, and lemming fufilled.

Anyways, less talky, more pictures?

Sigh. I'm wearing and I still drool. I love it. It has all the awesomeness I love in a polish: purple, glitter and flakies. NOM!

Anyways, thanks for reading loves and have a happy friday <3

A Green Comparison: Wet n Wild SaGreena the Teenage With & Sinful Color HD Green

Hiya lovelies! A short and sweet comparison post today.

But before we get to that, I am going to pre-face this with saying, as of today, I am on a no-buy until at least, November 1st. I just bought so much and since school is starting and I didn't work all summer, I'm going to be pinching my pennies! SO, I have a number of untrieds to work through and then I am going to just keep going through my collection and trying new things! So, no one tempt me!

Anyways, when I was re-organizing my Melmer, I was taking a semi-inventory of all the polishes I had/what colours I had the most of and I realized that I had two REALLY similar greens, Wet n Wild SaGreena the Teenage Witch and Sinful Colours HD Green .

On my index & ring I have the WnW and Sinful is on my middle and pinky. As you can see STTW is a bit more emerald and less frosty than the Sinful. I don't know how I ended up with both. I generally don't pick up colours like this...but apparently I did. I do have to say that the WnW was a better formula and went on better, despite the HORRENDOUS brush those WnW's have ( you know my rage for them!), and Sinful does not play well with QD Top Coats, as you can see on my middle finger, it blobbed weirdly!

Anyways, do you have either? Have another colour similar to these? Hate both? Love both? Let me know!

Thanks for reading lovelies<3

Dr. Remedy's Nails Hot Hot Summer Shades Review

Good morning wonderfuls!

How's everyone's tuesday going today? I've got a review for you, a little late, but sadly it took this box a little while to get to me from the Dr. Remedy's Head office!

The Hot Hot Summer collection features Nuture Nude Pink, Bold Baby Blue, Tranquil Tangerine, Glee Gold and Lovely Lavender.

First up we have Nuture Nude Pink, which is a creme pink-based nude with VERY subtle shimmer running through it. I say very, because you can see it in the bottle, but you really lose it on the nail sadly. This shade had a semi-streaky formula, but I was able to even it out on the 3rd coat. I hated this shade, but it grew on my slightly. I don't think it does any favours for my skintone, but it's a nice nude-esque shade.

Next up is Glee Gold. This is a very light, champagne-coloured gold, with a shimmery frosty finish. It is very sheer and there is VNL, so this one didn't wow me at all. Not a fan sadly.
Bold Baby Blue is a baby blue shimmer polish with white sparkles in it. Like Glee Gold it has a similarly frosty shimmer finish, and I found it to be kind of brushstroke-y. Again, sadly not a fan :( Also, it chunked up on me, and pulled in weird spots, hence the bumps on my index, ring and pinky.
Tranquil Tangerine was the shade I was most excited for, but like the last two, it fell a little flat for me. It is the perfect shade of tangerine orange, in my opinion, with a shimmer finish. It was not as frosty as Glee Gold or Bold Baby Blue, and not as brush stroke-y. I liked this more than the last two, but still no love.
Lively Lavender is the last, and my standout of the collection. The only thing I have an issue with is the name? To me, this isn't really lavender but whatever. It's sort of a cousin to Zoya Caitlin, and this shade is awesome. The formula was great on this one, 3 easy coats!

So overall, this collection was not a huge win for me. I really only loved 1 of the shades, but I can see myself wearing Bold Baby Blue and Tranquil Tangerine on my toes, so not a total loss?

Dr.’s REMEDY® Enriched Nail Polish is available for $16 online at or by calling 1-877-323-NAIL.  You can "Like" them on Facebook.

Thanks for reading loves! <3

Zoya Ibiza

Hi lovelies! Happy Monday! Here's a short and sweet post today!

Zoya Ibiza is probably one of my new favourite polishes and has really reminded me that there are some blue polishes I LOVE. Like this one!

Zoya Ibiza is an inky blue shimmer, which is beautiful in the sunlight. Indoors or in low light, it is still a deep, dark blue, but bring it into the sun, and that shimmer shines!

It has an awesome formula, and it wears amazingly well for me when I apply the Zoya basecoat (my body chemistry doesn't like zoya unless I use their basecoat). And bonus? It's awesome for stamping!

I only have one little photo, because my camera refused to capture it's awesomeness correctly!

If you don't have this, you NEED this. I don't know why it took me so long to wear it!

Thanks for reading lovelies<3

Snakeskin Nails

Hello Friends!
I have another Katy and Marta (from ChitChat Nails) production! Marta is so lovely and lets me use her polish stash and stamps my nails for me! I've been patiently waiting for my BM plates to arrive and to get a stamper so this is to tide me over!
I used 2 coats of Skull and Glossbones and stamped with China Glaze Awaken from the Romantiques collection!

Close up

So there you have it! My snakeskin nails...I'm a little bit late on the trend but I've been wanting to do it forever! I saw them on Kari's blog, Once Bitten, and I knew I had to do something similar!
Hope you enjoyed it, I love that it makes me hate my nubbins less!

*Also, quick note from Liz! My nails are featured on the amazing Kellie Gonzo's blog, go check them out here! *
