OPI Vodka & Caviar Updated

Hey lovelies, this is just a quick lil post, I just wanted to show you what I did to the OPI Vodka & Caviar manicure I had on the other day, I got major tip wear after a few days (potential SV shrinkage PLUS i didn't wrap my tips) SO I bit the bullet and added black tips, even though I have never worn a manicure like that take a look.

What do you think? Like it better this way? Like it better the old way? Hate both?

Also, on my sidebar I added a link to a formspring account, so if you have questions, ASK AWAY..also it's anonymous if you wish, so ask me questions, give me feedback..even criticism (if you wish)..I'll try to answer the best I can :)

It's Wednesday! Can I Sit With You Guys?

So a long time ago, I bought some dotting tools in an attempt to do more nail art with them, and then never followed through. Until the other day. I finally decided I would attempt an overlapping dot pattern on my finger tips. I think I like it..although I wish I had a nude polish, like OPI bubble bath for the base..I don't like my nail bed colour. Anyways, I used a relatively large tool, and China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy, China Glaze Pool Party, Zoya Layla, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in White Out and a light pink franken of mine for the dots. BUT it's Wednesday so it counts! It's pink and I love it
See how my camera hates FFF. It looks orange and ugly here

Looks better here, I used a vivid colour setting on my camera

Then, just because, I decided to take a full fake nail and see what it would look like to do a full nail design...

I had a limited selection of blues, hence the yellow/green/white thrown in there. How do you feel about this design. I don't know how I feel yet. Tell me your thoughts. Have you tried it? And the bigger question..can I sit with you?

Stylish Blogger Award

This is so cute, the ladies over at Glittagloves tagged me in this, so since I currently don't want to write my paper, I figured I'd fill this out for you!
So the rules: 1. Thank and link back to the person that awarded you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 discovered great bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the blog.

So I did a post where I wrote out things about me a while back, but I'll try to come up with some new things now...

1. I am a rage-y person, especially when I drive. I don't mean that I am a terrible driver (in fact all my siblings usually think I am a good driver) YET I get so much rage for people who do stupid things. Like tailgating on the highway, or the people who get mad that on a 2 lane high way the left lane has a train of cars behind a truck that is attempting to pass a truck on the right, and some dumb idiot decides he doesn't want to wait in the train, so he zips up the right lane behind the other truck, so now truck in left lane can't move back over if they are going to slow...things like that. I only am rage-y when I am alone or with my BF. I yell at cars, I call people ass-hats and so on...
2. I like to think that I am on time, BUT whenever I'm with my mom I am always 15 minutes late, guaranteed...
3. If I showed you a typical picture of me you would probably think that I am 16, but really I am 22..I look really young for my age.
4.I am terrible at eating just 1 cookie, or 1 brownie or whatever, if I bake I eat like 5 or 6...binge eating at it's finest
5. If I bought all the shoes & purses I looked at/drooled over/was in love with I would have to have a house to fit it all in
6. I really want a motorcycle because I think it would be badass, but I would never ride it..slash can't look like Megan Fox in Transformers..therefore a waste
7. I love Gilmore Girls, I own all the seasons on DVD and I know basically all the lines to every episode..that obsessed.

So 15 blogs to tag,  there are so many blogs out there/so many that have been tagged before that I am just going to say if you want to do it, Grab it! Pretend I tagged you, 'cause I love you all!

Guess Who?

I am really, really, really excited to be blogging on here! Most of you know my sister Elizabeth and her awesome blog! She invited me (aka I asked) to occasionally post on this page! Anyways so I thought I should introduce myself, my name is Katy and I'm Elizabeth's twin/triplet woot woot!

I have no idea how to properly blog with tags, pictures etc. so bear with me.
So some things you should know
1. I currently own 4 nail polishes, 3 from Rimmel 60 second collection and thats it!
2. I own zero top coat, nail strengthener, cuticle stuff...nothing. I also don't know a whole lot about this but I'm learning!
3. I won't blog a lot as Elizabeth is my inspiration so I will really only blog if she wants me to/lets me!

I was going to post my a picture of my nails but since most of the lights in my room are burnt out (I'm in a student house for the next week...I can't be bothered to buy lightbulbs) it didn't turn out. All you need to know are that my nails are currently SUPER short, my cuticles kinda suck and my hands in general as I spend 10 hours a week inside a freezer as my job, and before I worked in a bar and cut a lot of lemons.

Anyways this turned out longer than I thought (sorriers) I just got a little overexcited that I kind of get to be a part of the whole nail polish world sometimes!

OPI Vodka & Caviar

So, if you had read Kirsten's post, she talked about red being intimidating, and I totally agree. I only own 3 reds..and that's because my sister told me that everyone needs red. So, I since I'm wearing all my polishes in Lent..I had to wear all the reds *gulp*. So today I have another one of the OPI Russia series, Vodka and Caviar. I'm now a little determined to track down the rest of this collection, I love it.  This colour, in the sun is exactly how it photographed, but in the rest of time, I find the red is a bit darker, a bit more blood red. So onto photos :)

Sorry the carpet background is so ugly. It was too cold to go outside to grab some sun

This polish is SO shiny & then SV on top...delicious!
So, because I'm a little hesitant about red, I decided I'd Konad on top just to take the edge off. So I used the m57 plate and I love how it turned out. My photos obviously show how unforgiving macro is, so the edges of my cuticles look a litte stained, but I fixed it afterwards FYI and took all the cotton ball fluff off

So what do you think? Love the colour? Love the konad? Hate it? Hate red? Lemme know!

*Also, I have updated the giveaway page with a link to GlittaGlove's Giveaway Hint's Page, just in case some people are confused about entering the Giveaway*

Snow Caps...If You Think So.. (A Little Pic Heavy)

When I first started to read nail blogs, I started with Deniz from Emerald Sparkled and I was amazed at the creativity, its definitely where I got my Konad obsession from, because she does such nice manicures. However, she is also really creative in the nail art department as well, and so I decided I would try out one of her designs, which she titled Snow Cap, because I thought it was really pretty, and simple, and kind of different. So ready to see my attempt? Our base colours are different, she used a Golden Rose silver foil polish, which is almost champagne-y silver (at least in her photos), and I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Celeb City, my go-to silver, and SH XW in White Out for the "caps", which I freehanded.

As you can see, other than the cooler tones in my polish, my "snow caps" aren't as equal as hers, or the same width BUT this was the first attempt, and I only ruined 1 nail! I am impressed with myself and I really love the manicure, I hope it lasts for a while :) What do you guys think? Have you tried this look before? It's really simple, I think you all should!

OPI Russian Navy Suede

WHY have I never tried this type of polish before? It is SO COOL! I feel the need to run out and find all the other OPI Suede's.  I love the entire OPI Russia collection, and it's my goal to own them all, I have a secret love affair with Russia, so the collection screams to me, and when I saw the suede version I scooped it up. The polish dies so fast, and it could have been a two-coater, but I did 3 on a few nails because I wasn't careful and left a few bald spots.
Direct Sunlight

Sorry my pics are off centre

I'm seriously loving this colour! I don't have much to say about it, other than it's so cool! I'm going to see how well it wears, without the topcoat just because I like the matte-ness of it. So what do you think? Do you own it? Love it? Any others I should own? Lemme know!

What's In Your Purse Fridays :) Week 4

Happy Friday Everyone! Today Nicole from GlittaGloves has shown us the inside of her purse. Yay, take a look!

Hello there ladies! I was thrilled when Elizabeth offered the chance to show you all the contents of my purse, it gave me an excuse to go through all of my stuff. I didn't even know that I carried most of this stuff around with me all the time, if I'm honest. xD

I rotate through my purses every few weeks, and this is the one that I'm on currently. My auntie got it for me for my birthday last year (I think). It's most definitely a knock-off, but I think it looks nice enough. It's the purse I use when I need to look somewhat fancy. Also, do you like my pillowcase? Piggies = love.

And that's all the stuff inside it! I've separated it all into groups for explaining it to you gorgeous creatures though, so hopefully you'll be able to keep up. It's going to be an adventure!

Beauty products! From left to right:
1. Mini mascara from Josie Maran. I get the mascara samplers from Sephora whenever possible, and at least one of the tubes end up in my purse.
2. A lipgloss from Lancome. I don't remember where I got it, but it smells like watermelons and I lobe it. Yes, lobe.
3. Stella McCartney "Stella" roll-on perfume. Seriously, I love this perfume so much. It smells like roses without smelling like old ladies, which is hard to do. I have another Stella McCartney perfume ("Sheer"), but it lives on my nightstand.
4. Two Bliss hand creams. The first is blood orange and white pepper, and the other is macadamia oil and grapeseed extract. I'm a big fan of Bliss products, I just love how soft they make my skin without leaving me greasy. And the blood orange cream just smells divine.
5. Softlips lip balm in Tangerine Temptation. Softlips is another favourite of mine.
6. Lush Lemony Flutter cuticle butter. SO GOOD. I know you've probably heard lots about this stuff, so I'll refrain from raving too much. Let me just say that it's totally worth the money.
7. Eyeliner brush. Don't know why it was in my purse, but there it is.
8. Cranberry Joy body butter from The Body Shop. So nice. [:
9. China Glaze Fast Forward topcoat. Worst smelling thing ever, but it works so well. I like to keep it with me in case I need  quick fix for my manicure.

Big stuff! Clockwise from the top left.
1. My iPhone 3GS. Pretty standard. It lets me talk to people.
2. The book I'm reading. Currently I'm re-reading "The God of Small Things" by Arundhati Roy. If you get a chance to read this book, I definitely recommend it. The story is so beautiful, and the author has a wonderful way with words. READ IT.
3. Ladies' things. I am a lady, which means that at certain times of the month there are certain supplies that I need to keep with me. Enough said.
4. My wallet. My old wallet was dying a slow and painful death (it was mostly blue decorator tape by the time I finally got rid of it) so a wonderful friend donated this to me. Kitties!

Everything else! Starting from the top:
1. Crystal Light singles. Some kind of berry thing. It's just drink powder that you mix into your water to make it less boring.
2. Facial tissues.
3. Rescue Remedy. It's an herbal mouth spray that calms me down when I'm starting to freak out. I don't know if it actually works, but I think it works, and that's all that counts.
4. Lighter. I don't smoke, but I like to have one handy just in case.
5. Various decongestants for when I'm feeling sniffly.
6. Pens.
7. Small Nalgene container of change. My wallet doesn't have a very big change compartment, so I had to move most of it somewhere else. I think there's $5 in nickels and dimes in there.
8. A pin shaped like a sandwich. Just because.
9. Two lipglosses that were hiding in with my pens. One is from Icing and the other is from the Body Shop.

There you have it! There were also a lot of gum wrappers and old bus transfers, but I figured nobody needed to see those. :)
I hope you all didn't get too bored looking at the stuff I lug around! Trust me, my school backpack is about a million times worse than this.

Thank you for reading (assuming you stuck around this long) and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

We Wear Pink...Sparkles That Is..

It's wednesday again friends! Are you wearing pink? You should be, otherwise you can't sit with us! (JOKING), I love you all. And today I love my nails..why? Because it is pink & sparkly. I am wearing Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Rockstar Pink..and omg you guys, it's so pretty. I tried to show you the best of my camera's abilities, but because it was in sun, it wouldn't focus properly..I'll explain in the photo captions. OK so onto sparkles :) It's a little pic heavy, but I couldn't narrow it's so sparkly
Look at that sparkle

My camera obviously wouldn't show it as a flat colour, it tried to pick up each sparkle

It kept blurring fingers (i.e. index)

blurry..this is how my camera took like 50 photos...
SORRY..Edit...I made a Lightbox after I took these pics...and this is a pic from it. I didn't feel like taking a pic of my whole manicure...

I have to say, the polish was pretty good, it's a little thick, but its SO packed with sparkles, like it's a clear base with the sparkle in it, but the first coat was so covered in sparkles, it was amazing. And a topcoat just made it much better, I used China Glaze Fast Forward and I have to say, it seems nicer than SV in terms of taking away the grittiness.
So what do you think of my pink? Love it? Hate it? Hate sparkles but love the colour? Wanna join Pink Wednesdays? (Click the picture on my sidebar) Also, Don't forget to enter my 100 follower giveaway, I want   YOU to win, but you can't if you don't enter!

Best Polish Name..So Cheesy..So Awesome

SaGreena the Teenage Witch. HAHA Wet n' Wild, where do you come up with this shit. LOL. Anyways, other than the hilarity of this name, I LOVE this polish. The colour is so pretty, its what I think of when I think of Emeralds (although no where near the beauty of CG Emerald Sparkle..*drool*). Anyways, it's pretty green shimmery goodness, and it goes on really well, in the pictures its 3 coats.

It's so shiny, my camera makes it look like there are dents every where

Then that night I got bored, so I pulled out Essie Matte About You...and I think I might like it even more. In the pictures it might look like I have tipwear, but I think that it's just SV Shrinkage (first time, so far) *sigh* SV why you gotta be like that? Anyways, matte pictures!

I'm sorry if when you click my pictures to zoom in they are blurry, I'm still trying to figure out how my camera works/how to take the best photos with the macro settings. If anyone knows how, I use a Sony Cybershot DSC-150, I'll gladly take tips!

*Also, as I mentioned yesterday, when I hit 100 followers, I will give away the China Glaze Island Escape Collection..I am 2 people away!*
*EDIT!* I HIT 100 YAY! lol I am so excited! Enter my giveaway!*
